No Life Low Lives? - Is Marijuana Really Harmless?

  1. GC,
I have been toking for 4 years now, so I know how stoners and potheads are (I only smoke 3-4 times a week, and never really so I get BLITZED, just to make normal activities a little more fun). Have you ever considered the propaganda is right? Nothing happens to potheads? Having browsed this forum for years, most of the people here have strained relationships with family, compromised living situations, low income, facing jail time, etc.. I live under my parents roof (who don't approve of my habit) and have been caught four times, and I have decided, for the better good, to put down the substance until I am in a better position to use.

What Im trying to say is, many (not all) of the people on here have sacrificed the more important things in life, just to get high. We flame people who do things like selling their assets for bud (I remember a few days ago a guy got alot of shit for selling his iPhone), but many of the people here have sacrificed so much more. Family. This is the most important thing you can ever have. Why give it up? Why have drug possession under your record, prohibiting you from having a real job? Can anyone here honestly confirm that they make more than 80K US per annum? How many of us on here have had to turn down great job offers because we know we will face the feared drug test? Or how many of us have given our money away to buy "detox" drinks who don't give a shit about whether we pass or not?

I look at this plant that I admit that I love and indulge in, but until its legal, I just think the cons outweigh the pros. Just ask yourself, is that blunt you're smoking worth your mothers love and approval?

As a side note, Id like to add that this is not intended to be condescending, and I do not judge ANYONE that decides to use marijuana for themselves.

  2. It is not completely harmless at all. Anyone saying otherwise are in denial.

  3. I know I could greatly contribute to this thread, but I've been up almost 24 hours now so, later.

  4. that would be the laws against weed making it more harmful than the actual plant. the plant dont do nothin but get you high. it's the gov't that fucks it all up for us.

  5. Sorry man.... that just sounds like a cheezy ass anti drug commercial. " Just ask yourself, is that blunt you're smoking worth your mothers love and approval?"

That sounds like it's ripped off directly from an anti-weed poster in a locker room in High school or something.

Honestly... I'm an ADULT. So as long as I'm living a normal life, as long as I'm happy, can support myself, not in trouble, it's really none of my mothers business what I do in my life. I love my mom obviously, and we have a close relationship, but I honestly could care less about how she thinks I'm living my life (she has no problem with my lifestyle BTW).

Of course marijuana isn't "harmless" With regular smoking, you're inhaling burnt plant matter. Any way you cut it, that's not "harmless". But out of all the things that I do in life - weed, drinking, caffeine...I definitely consider weed the least harmful in my life. I'm pretty sure the fatty foods I eat once in awhile is doing more damage to my body than the weed I'm smoking.

  6. What that guy said ^

Weed is only harmful in these situations because it's of it's illegality. It's totally false that it holds you back from making 80k+ a year, because that's just propaganda being fed to you by the spoonful right there. It's definitely responsible of you to put down the blunt until you're in a better situation, that's definitely a good thing, but to say all marijuana users on this site dont make good salaries is kind of an asshole thing to say. Most people on here are 18-25 and are just in college or getting out and don't have their lives on track yet.

There's responsible people and irresponsible people with everything. Whether it be alcohol, video games, porn etc. Some people let some things get out of hand, and if you're doing detox kits to pass a test then that's irresponsible.

All in moderation my friend, and even then, some people can handle heavy amounts daily and still be successful. It all depends on the person my friend.

  7. People choose to be lazy, under achievers, its not weed that makes them that way. Everything is one way or another harming you, the food you eat, water you drink and air you breath but fuck sakes we're all going to die one way or another. Im certainly not going to deny myself the things I enjoy simply because others wouldnt do it, people are sooo convinced everything ment to be enjoyable is a sin. Im fortunate that my parents dont care that I smoke weed, although not everyone knows about it I dont think its any of their buisness.

You feel so negative because you focus all your energy trying to meet other peoples standards, thats a wasted life to me.

  8. Let me rephrase. Is it worth your family's (not in your case but many other people) approval? Is it worth your potential job? Is it worth your future kids future? Like no matter how much "propaganda" you think I might be spewing, from experience, I can tell you that weed definitely puts strain on your potential and future. Whether its from its effects or legality, that is not where I intended to go with this post. Its more that these consequences do exist, and are the consequences worth it? Whether or not you think they are, that is your decision, and a decision we can all make as adults. Once again, I dont judge you at all, so no need to be defensive. Just spewing out some ideas

Dude that's what his opinion is, he's saying that most people here are sacrificing the important things in life for something illegal. Also he states that he would not enjoy this illeagal substance until he has his priorities straight

  10. You hit it pretty much on the head. When people post things that show that the cons heavily outweigh the pros it drives me mad when the bulk of the replies are "Smoke less next time" "Try this" "try that".

Good for you, for being able to look at your life in a way most of us can't. Overly enlightened stoners who will never admit any fault in weed are worse for the marijuana movement then lazy potheads IMO.

  11. my names dont trip
    i am 22 years young
    and ima budaholic

  12. Basically people are people. They will have issues in their life's one way or another. Some will be doing better then others. I have seen little to no evidence that weed itself causes issues with people. Its legal status causes issues. Its social stigma causes issues. Not weed itself.

Yes some people go overboard with it some people abuse it but people abuse everything. Hell its far more common to find people who abuse sugar and caffine then weed. People who smoke weed are often stuck in low paying dead end jobs but so are people who dont smoke. I guess my point is life is what you make it stoner or not.

  13. My parents dont care that I smoke(I dont need there approval anyway) and I'm not worried about job offers at the moment

  14. I'd say family problems go deeper than just smoking marijuana. I might even go as far to say those problems might be why a lot start smoking in the first place.

Yeah, you'll get the threads about "ohmygod my parents caught me and now they hate me", which is caused by smoking weed, but cmon, we all know that's just petty shit in the long run.

  15. Exactly what Hiowa said... Nobody's parents hate them if they smoke weed lol. My parents caught when and it seemed like a huge deal at the time but now it's just water under the bridge now. I also quit until I'm in a better situation like yourself though but I know weed isn't causing ANYONE's parents (who are sane) to hate them.

  16. Idk, parents wouldn't resent you just for smoking weed.... but could you imagine having a kid and having him sitting around, grown up, unemployed, smoking weed, still living in your house? Because that seems to be what the OP is referring to

  17. To me, it seems there would still be some deeper issue there tbh

Weed hasn't really effected my life negatively at all don't have to worry about drug tests at my job i make 85k a year (Around something like 67k USD)
My parents never minded me smoking weed.
My coffee and cigarette addiction + my drinking is way worse than my weed.
I think it really depends on the type of person you are, I've never been the type to just sit on my ass and do nothing.

  19. You're confusing pot with prohibition because that is precisely the cause of all the problems you listed.

You don't see families hating on people for alcohol or cigs...you don't see people being thrown in jail and because of drinking a beer...employers don't go around testing for alcohol...

  20. the same theory applies to legal cheeseburgers. yeah, eat that shit in moderation or you will die from a fuckin stroke. its hard for me to quit smoking weed..and i was addicted to opiates for a long time. i guess its better than being addicted to prozac.
