  1. so ive been on GC for about 2 years. didnt post much last year and this year ive become interested in growing. but i have no idea where to begin on anything. Ive been reading and combing and doing the research but i kind of need to be spoon fed for now. Its about time i try to grwo something.

I have a closet wchich is 4.5 ft wide by 9 ft tall. its a pretty decent space. Id only like about 2-3 plants growing. The closet has zero ventilation except the entrance to the closet which exits to my room.

what kind of lights do i use?
how do i set up ventilation?

ANY help in the right derection is appreciated.guys thanks.

  2. see all those stickies up top of the forum? Start there my man, read, read, and read some more.
Then, when you have a specific question, ask away ;)

  3. Look at the stickies, search other posts, and just get educated. Start with some quality products and you won't regret it!

  4. Hello there!
I have a link to a thread for you. --->http://forum.grasscity.com/grow-roo...t-odour-neutralizer.html?highlight=ona+bucket
In this thread, OP will take you step by step through the process of building your own ONA bucket. If you're going to grow in a closet, an ONA bucket is a good idea for odor control.

If you choose to use something like the ONA bucket, you won't need to concern yourself much with ventilation. Simply opening the closet door for a couple of minutes, a few times a day will be all the ventilation they will need. Nevertheless, odor control will be an absolute necessity in a closet. However, odor shouldn't be an issue until the flowering stage. So you have a couple of weeks to gather what you need, and build your bucket. Of course, you can buy an actual ONA bucket online and in certain stores, but they're cheaper to build than to buy.

As for your lights, you have to choose what kind of lights you want to use. Only then, can anyone actually advise you on which ones to get. I use cfl's, and plan to continue to use them for my next grow. If you choose cfl's you should know that you want at least 100w for the first plant, and at least 50w for every other plant. For instance, to avoid federal prosecution, I won't grow more than four plants at one time. So I need 250w bare minimum to grow four plants. You should know, though, that when I say bare minimum, that is exactly what you'll get at harvest time. The more light you give your plants, the more they will produce.

There are two types of cfl's for growing, and you need both types to achieve the best results for the least amount of money. During the veg stage you'll need the 6500k, which mimics the daylight spectrum. During the flowering stage you'll want to change to Soft White 2700k, which mimics the spectrum of HPS. All this can be found in Kamel's CFL guide that is stickied at the top of this forum.

You say you've read a lot of the threads here while you lurked. You don't need to be spoonfed the instructions. You just need to trust yourself and do it! Just germinate some beans, and pop them in some dirt. Go ahead and resign yourself to the notion that you will make mistakes. Every new grower does. And guess what...pro growers do too. :p

You've picked your grow spot, and decided you want to grow. Now, I think your next step is probably figuring out how to mount your lights. Whether you use cfl's, or LED's, or whatever, they're going to have to be mounted on something. Otherwise, you're going to have a bunch of desk lamps running to extension cords. You don't want that. Check out sites like eBay and Amazon. Search 'grow lights', and see what pops up. I'm confident you'll find something that catches your eye in your price range. Unless you have hundreds of dollars to spend on lights, avoid LED's. The cheaper, weaker ones are a waste of time and money because they're not strong enough to produce what most mj growers are looking to produce.

Remember, there's lots of people here who can help guide you. All you have to do is get the grow started. I suggest, once you do get your grow started, you should also start a thread in the indoor grow journal section. If you keep it updated, people watching that forum will help you.

    Good luck! :smoke:
