NLx Grow Log - 400W MH/HPS - Bubble Bucket

Discussion in 'Marijuana Grow Journals' started by sth, Nov 22, 2006.

1. Hey hey!

I waited until I had the seedlings into the bubble bucket to make this so there'd be a bit more to show. They were started under 52 watts of daylight for about 4 days then they were moved underneath the MH.

3. looks good dude! Definately better than any caserole i've ever had :)

4. Mmmm... seedling suprise?

5. Day 8:
-Moved the 400W MH a little closer - it sits about 2ft away from the tops now.
-Temp is a steady 77 degrees with 25-30% humidity.
-Killed off two of the sad seedlings.

6. I have a question..what nute mix are you running in your bubbler because im running a bubble bucket system with a few plants in it on day 8 using cheap floragrow/floramicro nutes @ 1/2tbsp per gallon and this is what mine lool like, and there under a 400w MH also.

the last 2 pots just recently got germinated so pay no attn to them.

7. Let me guess, no tds/ppm meter. Dude you really need one as well as a PH meter. The nutes will work ok, might throw in a pinch of epsom salts now and then to ward off mag deficiency.

8. Yea a EC/tds/ppm meter and ph adjusting supply's are a must..cause them plants look a bit skinny, and kinda stretched.

9. Is this directed toward me? If so, I do have a PH meter and the water's at 5.9. No nutes, just water. They're small because they had a rough start without a humidity dome (it was in the mail for a while) and I had to repot them.

10. They're streched because they (10 seedlings) grew underneath only 52w of CFL. :p It'll stop now that they're under the MH.

11. what is the medium you are using...and where can i get it...i need a medium ASAP!!!

12. fyi its rockwool and hydroton rocks.

The PH part is directed at anyone who reads and your PH should be 5.5 and u should be giving nutes, I give them nutes from the get go in hydro, 150ppm worth for clones and seedlings. Of course without a meter its guess work. Oh, and I do know what I'm talking about.

13. Looks like rockwhool and Expanded clay to me...

@ STH now i get why there stretched :) now get yourself a good PPM meter and give them kids some 1/4 strength nutes! Dont make me make you send them to uncle Kool to show them a good time :smoking: lol /OT Ill be watching this grow very close as our plants arent far off from the same environment

14. I'm going by this chart here. I wasn't aware I could give them nutes this early, thanks that's good to know - I'll do it up right now in fact. I've read a PPM meter is not needed if I go by the nute chart on the bottle and change the resevoir water frequently (which I plan on doing).

15. Day 10ish:
-Seedlings are lovin' the 150ppm nutes.
-Only one of the four plants has roots coming out of the bottom of the netpot so far. I imagine they'll start taking off once they're all getting bubble-fied.
-Slow start, but doing well
-Lowered the 400w MH 1" today.

Temp: 78
Humidity: 36%

16. Day 11ish:
-Going to be increasing the nutes tomorrow from 150ppm to 300ppm.
-All of the plants now have roots outside of their netpots
-3 of the plants have their roots in the res solution
-Fan is oscillating in front of seedlings on medium power

17. Thats what I thought the first time I went hydro, burnt the F out of them. Beleive me a PPM meter is important because feeding charts are guides not the bible, your plants requirements are not the same as legal plants, ya know what I mean and even amoung different strains there is a lot of diferences. But its my opinion, backed by experience and a shit load of successful hydro growers.

18. I read what you wrote the first time, duder. I'm aware you've had success in the past, I even followed your grow for a while as well - no one doubts your experience. I'm all set with the sass tho... your constructive criticism was noted; that's that.

That said, I'll get a PPM meter whenever I have the excess funds but until that day changing resevoir water frequently should negate the need. I have no problem spending the time once a week changing the solution/cleaning the tub until I obtain a meter - it gives me something to do. :D

19. looking good!

i do see some room for a couple Lowryders :smoking::smoking:

20. Heres a Link to the Cheapest PH/TDS/EC Combo meter I've found.

There is also just some str8 TDS meters on the bottom of the same page for like $18
