Nitrogen deficiency, over watering, ideas?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Theguyoverhere, Jul 3, 2018.

  1. Today when I came home from work I noticed my plants leaves are looking a bit weird. It almost look like the beginning stages of Nitrogen deficiency but I figured the plant is too young to have that, but I am a beginner so I don't know what I am talking about. A week ago I overwatered my plant so it has been sitting not watered for 6 days. It never showed any signs of overwatering, but today I the leaves look like they do and I'm not exactly sure what caused this to happen overnight. I wouldn't be so concerned if the tips weren't starting to curl down like they are. I am attaching some pictures and 1 of the pictures was from last night and the others are obviously from today. Any ideas on what could be going on would be greatly appreciated. 20180701_221953.jpg 20180702_201212.jpg 20180702_201252.jpg 20180702_201302.jpg

  2. see the deep veins in the leaves thats over watering

a week later and still over watered ensure you keep a fan with a gentle breeze

will encourage the stomata to breathe more and use up some water

    always lift pot then

    THINK

    before watering

the bright maybe over green leaves

thats excess(N) but maybe your camera lens too

    looks good

whats the soil and pot size?

    good luck

  3. 5 gallon pot with Canna coco, and Kind soil with the recommended amount in the bottom. Also mixed Perlite in with the coco to help with oxygen and drainage.

I also have a fan circulating air and the plants are getting plenty of air circulation. Also the temp in my tent stays to high so for now I leave the tent open and I have installed a portable A.C. in the room to keep the temperature lower. The temp stays 70-79 degrees and I have put a humidifier in as well as the humidity was very low for seedling stage.

  4. Yeah they're just over watered. Let your soil dry completely and let her ask you for water before you give her anymore.

I really only water my plant when the leaves start to droop down. Some people will tell you not to do that, but ive never ran into problems.

Also. Seeing that your getting little to no evaporation. Water maybe once a week no more than that. Dont feed until the feeder leaves die off, and start at 1/4 or 1/6 strength nutes.

Your plant wont show deficiencies until flower really unless your growing in coco or hydro.

The yellowing of the leaves looks like normal veg growth to me. Its only a problem if you start seeing something other than green on your leaves.

  5. Is your medium coco, or soil? It sounds like you have coco on top and soil on the bottom from your description

  6. Yeah coco on top and Kind soil on the bottom

  7. You really should have chosen one or the other as both require much different care. Coco cannot be left to dry or you will have nute burn and ph issues. Also coco is inert so you’ll have to feed often until your roots hit the soil in the bottom. IMO, you should make a choice, and repot into the medium you choose, with added perlite for drainage. If you need help goin the coco route, just ask, and browse my or Mick’s journals for info

Deleted. I thought you were talking to me.

  10. The reason I went with the coco and Kind soil mix is from watching videos and reading stuff online. I just copied what others were using. I'm a compete nubie and don't have much knowledge on growing so I have tried to read and watch videos as much as possible.

  11. I am using Canna Coco Organic.

  12. I’ve never heard of anybody growing in a media like that. Maybe mixing coco in for a soil base, but peat is usually better for that as long as it’s buffered with lime.

  13. I found quiet a bit of info on growing like that and it seemed the simplest, which with me bro g a nubie, I wanted this vs to be as easy as possible for my first grow. I guess I will see what happens with it because I don't want to shock the plants anymore than they already are in transplanting them in a different media. They are Autos so I don't want to chance slowing them down any more

i don’t think kind soil recommends straight coco. they recommend coco loco.

    soil mixes/information

in fact they even have a Q/A...

Q: Can you run your system with straight coco?

A: No if your interested in running coco with our system the best option is coco loco we really recommend that over everything. Pure coco coir creates a lot of issues over time when its not being used with chemicals.

i have done two grows with kind soil with coco loco and love the ease of growing in it!

  15. Thanks I'll look into it

  16. I ordered Fox Farms Coco Loco so it will be here next week and I will transplant then. Hopefully it'll survive that long

  17. 20180708_152005.jpg 20180708_151848.jpg 20180708_151852.jpg UPDATE: So the plant has continued to get worse. I have removed a couple of inches of soil until I reached the roots to help dry the soil out. The leaves have continued to cup and curl and are now turning brown. Then plant hasn't seemed to slow down in growth so maybe it'll pull out of this funk from the over watering. I was also thinking it had some heat stress but the temperature in the room stays between 70-75 so I doubt it is that making the leaves cup. I have been wondering if I over did the light. I have a 2ftx4ft 5ft heigh grow tent. the light is an 8 bulb T5 4ft grow light. It has 8 6500k bulbs in it. Is that too much light for a plant that is under a lot of stress? I thought about turning half of the fixture off as it has 2 switches that allow only 4 bulbs to be on, if needed. I also have the lights as far away from the plants as I can get them because it did raise the heat level at the plant and the plants don't seem to be stretching so that is why I have kept the lights so far away. I am also very lery of transplanting into the new soil because the roots have seemed to have grown more outward and not downward and the roots are very small and fragile as I broke some off removing some of the soil.

  18. Not sure, but I think she may be dying. The plant is still growing but getting worse day by day. The top leaves are curling up on the center and hanging down on the rest of the leaf. Its like it is getting too hot, which I know for a fact that is not the case. I took measures and bought an ac just for that room because the temps were 80-85, but thats been 2 weeks ago. the temps stay between 70-75 now, and thats using a temp gun on the plant. Im still waiting on the soil to come in to transplant but I don't know if I want to risk anymore stress to the plant by transplanting, never done it so I wouldn't know.

  19. Did you do what the bro said and re-pot it?

  20. I was going to. I have to order everything because where I live there is no where to buy any soil other than maricle grow. The soil is suppose to be here tomorrow along with the air pots. It may be too late to transplant but I guess we will see
