Opening that pdf file froze up my internet. Damn, I'll get around to reading this somehow. Thanks for posting this.
Mad thanks, should be very interesting. Especially a suicide note as a scholarly piece of work. Someone this sophisticated must be something rather worthy of reading. 1400 footnotes? Like shit, that was a long time of suicidal contemplation. Wonder what was on his mind?
I believe that his result was due to the structure of our social system which obsoletes people and forces them to attain a purpose through reputation and ignores human potential in order to perpetuate hierchies of wealth. Otherwise the conclusion that he would have reached is that the purpose of existance is life and experience and to sense ones self and the universe around them and to elevate the state of health and enlightenment everywhere.
That is some good thought, but certainly true. Reminds me in a sense of what Chris McCandless did in Krakauer's documentary book about him, and how he acted. Except there was another way out for this man I guess. Death is inevitable but it isn't always the end.
hahahaha wow!! You've got to be one depressed pessimistic motherfucker to be able to write a 2000 page book on why life is meaningless from free will and not having to try to.
