Newie Grower needing advice.

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Mike_G_G, Oct 6, 2014.

  1. I have seen that people requesting help on grow boxes receive very bad treatment here, but I am a cancer patient living in a place that does now allow medical marijuana under any circumstances. The person who helped me get some died. I do not have the ability or energy to build my own own grow-house, and I do not have time to study the subject for years. I know where to get auto-flower seeds and have an electrical outlet and room for something about the size of a refrigerator. That's it.

I hope there is some one out there willing to offer some kind advice on where to start. Helpful replies only please. Thank you.

do you know by ounce how much you need?

I don't really like tents, but sounds like you may be a candidate for one. You can buy one about the size of a refrigerator. You will probably need someone to help you assemble it.

Let us know more about your needs and we can help you find a tent and the ventilation you will need. Most vendors sell the tent and the matching fans you will need as one package. Then you will need a light. The light depends on the size of the tent. You will need some pots, but again the size of the pots depend on the size of the tent.

Do a google search on tents for marijuana and get some ideas what is available

  3. Thanks for responding Lotek. Not very much. A joint or two a day perhaps? I don't really want to depend on it all the time, but at night it is a relief.

  4. If you have a little bit of cash to spend, get a grow tent setup..minimal effort to put together. I grow in a 4x4 tent with a 600w air cooled light..electricity is 27$ per month at the most, 1/3 less money when on a 12/12 schedule.

I also vermicupost to make my own worm castings..if you can get into that, you will find it very beneficial in your weed growing. I'm also in an illegal state but fortunately do not need the bud for medical reasons, good luck to you

  5. ok, no problem, yes you can grow enough in the space the size of a refrigerator. Tell us more about this "space". Can it be sealed from outside light? What is the ambient room temperature? Does it have heat and air conditioning?

same here, I am on some pretty decent prescription pain medication, but the pot after sundown is quite a relief. I use less space than you have

  6. yes drinker, that is what I was thinking. 4x4 tent sounds about right. Do you remember where you bought it? And can you recommend a 600w air cooled light? How many plants do you grow? What size pots do you use? I assume you also have an intake and exhaust fan on your tent, right?

I know nothing about the quality of this light or the seller, but here's about what you are looking for as a light

if it was me I would ditch the lens

now me personally? I just grow one plant under a 200w cfl. That's why I need less space than a refrigerator. But it will probably take a few years to get your growing technique down to where it will produce enough for your needs.

I got mine off ebay it's the secret jardin darkroom 2.5 or something like that. You can definitely find cheaper ones though if you need to that will work just as good.

For a light, if you can afford it get a large size hood they have much better light coverage.

I do have a 400cfm fan connected to a phresh carbon filter..also a smaller fan for intake. And I grow in either 5 or 7 gallon smart pots, depending on what I'm doing, a scrog or a sea of green.

  9. Thanks everyone for the responses. I will look at the links after I post this.

I have two small rooms off of a finished basement -- one is a storage area and the other is the control room -- so I have a reasonable amount of space. Both rooms are fairly open and airy, are held at about 72 degrees year round, but are very dry, about 30-35% humidity. I thought a hydroponic system might help that that. I could scatter grow a few plants at a time.

Cost isn't really an issue compared to easy setup and low maintenance. I don't have a way to hook a blower up to the house exhaust system, so I imagine I would need a filter of some kind. I was hoping to find a turnkey solution, something that I buy in one place and could set up once without too much effort.

I can probably spend $1000 USD or even more if that helps. I also know how easy it is to get ripped off, so I'd like to avoid that too. ;)

    Thanks again.

  10. Hey bro. Looks like you have some good info so far. Theres a few vendors that sell complete kits. Tent, light, fans, hoods some have filters some you would have to add in. Depends if your handy that opens up making a cabinet. This is one setup i have. Its 32"x24x38 tall thats the flowering top chamber. In it is a carbon filter can fan and cool tube with a 400watt light. I usually see about 9-10 ozs out of it a cycle. I also am running a secret jarden dp90 thats a dark propagator. Its a mother tent. Its 3'x2'x3 with a ds200 light its 300 watts and thy say will replace a 400 hid. I keep all my plants around a foot tall with some lsting. You need any help picking equipment just ask. Come follow in my thread below maby you will get some ideas. The best money i ever spent was on Ryan Rylies guide. Fantastic info on everything you need to know from cooking to ediquit growing and everything in between.
