i don't know what light to get i've looked through some of the grow faq's.. i know about the hps lights and watts.. but i'll probably closet grow.. does the light need to be hanging above the plant or is this something simple where i can just put a 100w hps in the closet light socket which won't be above the plant but will be beside the plant.. will the plant still grow? or how about a hanging light that can bend above the plant.. what would be best?
you can put a light anywhere, but the most effective place is directly over the plant, as close as possible without harm to the plant.
You cannot put an hps bulb in a normal light socket. You need to buy a hood and ballast. And the ballast needs to be exactly for whatever bulb your running. Look on E-Bay for Hps set ups... And go buy a book called The Cannabis Grow Bible...
I was starting to wonder if I was the only one that caught that. Im not sure what would happen if you just screwed a hps light bulb into a socket but im pretty sure it wouldnt be anything good! OP, i've got to agree with the others, you have ALOT more reading to do. You say you know about hps and watts? So based on what you said, 100w hps you're going to grow one plant? My guess would be bag seed, and you would have to win the vgenetic lottery to end up with one female from one bagseed. The Rule is 100w for the first plant and 50w for each additional. not trying to bust your balls but you've got do do your homework and alot of it if you want to get anything from your hard work. and please dont ignore the fact that to do this well it is at times hard work... but oh so well worth it in the end!
