New To Hydro, What are Possible Problems With Hydroponics

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by advhydroponics, Sep 7, 2017.

  1. Good afternoon world! Pat here, I’ve been growing in coco for some time now (years). & I’ve finally made the point to switch over to Hydroponics. If anyone would like to share their experience in doing so I would love to hear some first had testimonies. Possible problems, solutions to those problems & so on! Please share!!! thx

  2. Use one reservoir only so you don't have to empty/fill multiple tanks.
Get a system that allows the easy addition and removal of fluid, because you'll be doing that often.
Getting water is a hassle, and you should consider a cheap reverse osmosis system, but some people use tap water.
Correct pH is essential, and you should consider a Blue Lab pH pen.
A ppm meter is a must, and Blue Lab is also excellent, but also expensive.
Many growers use half or less of the nutes recommended by the profit-minded nute makers.
The VPD chart is very useful, and claims to give the proper humidity range for a given temperature:

  3. I can think of one major one (but I am a hydro grower).... TIME! Definitely more work than soil.

Never grew in coco so I'm not sure of how time consuming that is... (still basically hydro, with coco as the buffer/inert grow medium, correct?)

  4. You need to appease the hydro gods by flooding your shit at least once.
