First time grower here, looking for some answers to some questions i have about out door growing. First, are auto fem seeds always less potent than regular fem seeds. I watched a video somewhere and someone said this in the comments section, which i know you cant always trust lol but I was just curious. Second, I have been looking at the auto strains on attitude and i was thinking about just getting the auto #1, because its the cheapest and it will be my first time growing, so i'd like to get some practice in before i dabble with the good strains. Would this be a good choice? Also, i'm only looking at auto seeds because I took it to be easier than regular fem seeds because of not having to use the male plant and they have short flower times which is always nice I would think. But are auto seeds easier than reg fem seeds? I will be guerilla growing so to speak and all the auto strains are perfect for that. Any help will be appreciated! Uh, fem seeds wouldn't have males. Autos and regs are 2 entirely different things. Autos are autos. They veg for a very short amount of time and then flower. They yield grams and generally are not worth it. Few times you hear about people pulling a few ozzies, but not often. Regular plants are photoperiod. They flower based off maturity and light hours. They take a few months to reach that from seed, but by the time you can clone it the new plant can flower instantly. The yields are much better. You can get reg seeds which can be male or female or femmed seeds which should be female.
So you're saying that if I get regular fem seeds, I won't need a male to pollenate or be involved at all? Also the shorter time on the auto is a plus but a lot of the autos on attitude say you can get 400-600 grams. Thats plenty from one plant for me I think. Also another question I forgot to add to the first post, when i chop my plants and trim them, can i just put them in the cvault(The Cvault - Cure & Store To Perfection!) to cure? Thanks
No, that gets you seeds. You don't want seed weed. The 400-600 grams is pretty standard and false. It says that for pretty much every strain. Go for femmed photoperiod strains. Not sure what that cvult is, but once you dry them you just put them in mason jars to cure. You burp them by opening the lid every so often. After a few weeks of doing this it is good to go, but leave them stored in the jar. The longer the cure the better the smoke
What does photoperiod mean? And i just like the autos cause of the flower times and i'm new to growing so im just going to take optimale care of the auto plants just to practice for future reg plants.
Bump, but what i was asking about the cvault was can i just trim the plants then just put them in the cvault with out hanging and drying? If you are subscribed to nug porn on youtube they had the video a couple days ago. Also i found my spot today, my partner wants to put them in buckets or pots, but i dont want them to be above ground so could we dig holes and then bury the pots so it looks like its in the ground?
Photoperiod is a strain that flowers based on hours of sun and not within 2 weeks like autos so the yield is much greater. The potency is also better. You could burry the pots in ground. For flushing you'd do it like any other crop and just run water through it unless its in ground. Then it'll take care of the build up for you. As far as the no dry/cure I'm not sure. Id at least hang for 5 days then jar em
nah if males pollinate ur females they wont produce any bud.. and photo period plants usually yield 8 ounces at the least, and thats if ur very inexperienced and dont take care of it correctly, most of the time a pound or 2 is pretty average tho some strains yield like 5 or 6 pounds i dont think u want autos, ur gonna end up getting half an ounce to an ounce, it's not worth ur time unless ur indoors and growing 100 at once
Seeded plants produce bud. Not to long ago all the weed was seeded and it was still good. ie: Colombian Gold, Redbud etc. mj
A couple more questions: If i were to start the seeds outside, could i instead of bringing them in every night could i just put a sheet over them at night time and just take it off before the early morning sun rises? Also what is fimming? And im not sure if im understanding the flushing process. Is it when you run water through the base and root structure of the plant to rid of excess nutrients? Then when you do that you just put it back in the pot or wherever you are growing it? Do i have it right? Thanks
Flushing is just running enough water through a pot to flush out all the toxins/extra nutes, and if you're growing outdoor right in the ground you don't have to worry. Also, autoflowers are a waste. SWIM grew about 5 and only got 3 ounces from the whole season, but it was just a test to see if SWIM could do it. SWIM switched to phototropics and is hoping to get around a pound from the same number of plants. Autos are best for indoor, because they grow fast and you don't have to mess with a light schedule. They dont yield enough to last until your next grow.
The sheet question was for overnight use for when they are just starting or incase of a cold front or something. What or who is SWIM?
