alright, so I've seen on the net different answers. I've seen blue for seedlings and red for flowering/budding. I've seen only red and I've seen mix the two all the time. so my question is what should I do for what stage. I have a grow light that has the ability to do all blue all red all white and a combo of the each (blue and red, blue and white, red and white etc) I know this is a very newbie question but I've never grown weed before just smoked it lol
More blue during veg and red during flower. Some use both settings during flower Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
Well; you can't run just red, I would run Red White mainly. White light alone may be enough for vegetation. I would experiment.
I can turn blue and red on at same time red and white blue and white and all three. But there isn't like a way to do 25% or anything
No; it will not stunt. You can encourage different changes in a plant when you change the ratio of light. Like flowering faster, plant taste, size of leaves and stalks; on and on. White light alone is better than just red or blue alone/red blue together. Its worth noting red is a main driver in photosynthesis, but cause negitive effects when their isn't enough of everything else. The light looks small, what is the power rating? I would run all the colors, looks small in the pic.
More importantly than the spectrum: what wattage is the light? What size are are you trying to cover? If your lights powerful in a small area you may want to not run all three at once. If it's a low powered light in a big space run it at full power etc...
You're going to want to run all of them. Plants don't grow well on straight blue or straight red light. Most "burple" grow lights that use mostly red and blue leds still have some of both colors on in veg and bloom. When you turn a typical burple grow panel to veg only it only turns off some of the red leds not all of them. If your spectrum chart has more blue then it causes less stretch. Red causes more stretch but more overall growth. That's why it's long tradition to use a more blue leaning light in veg and a more red leaning light in flower hence using an MH in veg and an HPS in flower that is much more red leaning. There's always a blend of the spectrum though it's never just blue. That grows like crap. Just red grows okay but not compared to more full spectrum for sure. You get a mutated plant with only one light color. Looking at your pics that does not look like a worthy grow light that will grow you a harvest you'll be happy with. Maybe I'm wrong but I've been growing with led for 3 years and have owned 4 different brands. How many square foot is your grow space? What model of light is that and what is the wattage draw at the wall? Those are the important questions to know if this light is good enough for the space. It looks very old school circa 2004 style led growing. Nobody uses just blue or just red anymore for a long time.
I do have a small light. It's a 2 ft 700 lumens but I only have 4 out of 7 seeds sprouted And it was the only thing I get a hold of right way
Alright I'm running blue red and white. I appreciate the input guys. And thanks for being cool about this. I expected a lot of trolling. And hatred
700 lumens is so low. Something close to 8,000-10,000 is about what you need for a 2x2 area for flower. You should consider picking up a real grow light. These are some of the best lower priced small scale grow leds on the market. You won't be sorry. All of my grow lights use the same diode. Horticulture Lighting Group 100 Watt Quantum Board LED Lamp
