New seedling looks weird, missing a top node or what?

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Blossomed, Jul 13, 2020.

  1. Hello, i've never seen a seedling like what i'm growing now, is this normal or what? It looks like there's no new node(?) at the top of the plant or something. It's almost 2 weeks old now.

My other plants look normal growing new nodes but this one just has 4 big leafs at the top.

Took few images (can take more if needed) if it helps to look at the problem, and what should i do if i should do anything to it?

  2. Defective plant. It likely won't develop much more then it has. Waste of space, toss and fire new beans.

  3. Are you sure there's nothing to be done (like topping the plant somehow or something)? I paid so much for that feminized cinderella xx seed that i don't want to lose it too

  4. Let it grow until your sure but with no visible new growth center. I've see it a few times and they just stall in most cases. If space or numbers isn't an issue then wait it out.

  5. If your that determined to fix it try and grow it out till you can get some clones off it.

  6. Well i paid almost 20 bucks for that seed alone so it better be worth it  And yeah i was planning to take clones in the future from it before i even bought it so maybe there's that.

But i wonder if it would work out if i cut out the top (that 4 leaf thingy) from the bottom where the new nodes grow out from the sides? Or would the seedling just die?

  7. Idk but once the branches grow out you should be able to clone.

  8. I wouldn't be too keen on cloning it unless it grows out of the problem. More than likely if you clone it you'll just have the same thing happening. It is a clone, after all. So the clones will behave similarly.

  9. I don't know that much about cloning and stuff but that would make sense (this is my 2nd growth), but would there be any sense cutting out the top part off like i suggested before?

  10. Topping it most likely won't work. When you top you are killing the growth of the node forcing two side sprouts to prepare their structures to grow colas. Right now, your plant isn't even growing side nodes, so there's no side nodes to take the place of the node that you are topping. If you really want to top, you should at least wait until there is a new node to try to top it.

Also, even though you say you paid $20 for the seed, you kind of have to consider what that $20 is actually worth. Because if you end up going further with it, you may be spending much more than that on soil, and nutes, just to get nothing out of it. If your plant grows and grows and develops roots its going to munch on all those good nutrients in your soil but it won't give you anything back. It'll just be a black hole and it'll cost more than $20. And if you attempt to clone it, you could spend even more on soil and nutes, when you could just scrap it and start with a new seed. Although I understand if that's tough if you are not in a "legal" area. And i also know how bad it feels to throw a baby away. But still. Like someone else mentioned, you can wait it out to see what it does. But thats all you can really do.

  11. Good luck finding a unicorn, of a strain, with one seed. You generally need to pheno hunt and plant lots of seeds unless you get shit ass lucky!

  12. Well i guess i just wait it out then and see what happens, it's in a 1 liter container like my other seedlings so "losing" that soil wouldn't cost anything. But losing the seed would hurt more, i really wanted to grow Cxx. Yeah it's a little bit tough when i'm not in legal area too.

  13. Well i didn't mean to find some super unicorn from one seed, just planned to take and share clones for future grows.

  19. Have you grown with coco different than soil
I wouldn’t unless you know how to work with it
Get some happy frog and some perlite to mix with the frog get a moisture meter you can’t go wrong just stick in the soil boom you’ll know instantly
    Good luck

  20. Last time i mixed half all mix with half coco and intended to do the same this time too, pretty easy to grow.

But i'm looking solutions for this seedling problem, do you have any knowledge?
