Hi all, I'm in the process of outfitting a 6 x 6 area (8ft ceilings) inside a dedicated grow room. I have a total of 6 x 12 in the room that I will eventually want to put to full use. Right now I'm trying to make decisions about lighting. Technically, I could probably skate by with a single 1k over the 6 x 6 area nad lucky me, I already have one. However, I think a single 1 k would be a bit small, and if I start to use the whole room, 2 1k's will still be bare minimum. In a room this size, would you opt for 2 x 600w to cover the 6 x 6 for now, and then add 2 more 600w if I go bigger? Or just bite the bullet and go with the 1k's? I like the efficiency of the 600w, and driven with e-ballasts their lumen output it awesome. Does a 600w have the ability to get the same penetration if placed correctly? I'll try to keep adding to this thread as I go. Keep up the good work, you guys are a great source of knowledge!
Ok, we can scratch the light question off the books! Just grabbed 2 Lumatek 240v 1000's. So for lights it will be 2 x 1000w vented. I also picked up a 4 light controller. Unfortunately that means I have more wiring work to do but I think it's worth it to get this part setup right from the get go. Does anyone have any tips for installing the controller? I have a 10g run already in that room so I just need to decide how I want to wire this in. Guess I don't really need the 240v plug I wired anymore. I suppose one option would be a heavy duty cord from the plug and just wire it into the box. That's a bit ghetto though and definitely not up to code. Another option (the better one I think) would be to grab a face plate with a 1/2" knockout and pigtail some 10g wire into it. Run conduit from the face plate to the controller. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
