New Patient Question

    I tried doing a search for this but couldn't find anything.

    I'm in LA and I'm a new MMJ patient. I'm curious to see where and how anyone smokes in public. I've been doing edibles lately but I really want to be able to smoke a joint or out of my pipe. The edibles last too long and make me waaaaaaaaaaay too sleepy.

    I know the actual government regulations (at least in CA) say you can smoke in any smoking section but does anyone actually do that? I've smoked in remote locations on the beach and parking garages, but have always been concerned that a cop will give me shit for it. Has anyone been caught smoking by a cop? What happened?

    Just want to see what everyone's experiences have been... with smoking in public and being approached by the police while smoking outside. :hello:

    My understanding is that legally, you can smoke anywhere in public where smoking is allowed. This means NOT on private property, such as a parking garage or on the smoking patio of a bar or restaurant. I have smoked in a secluded outdoor area, and on quiet neighborhood streets at night. I think the important thing is simply to not be brazen about it- don't smoke in a crowded area or any area that gets a lot of foot traffic. I'm not sure if smoking is legal on the beach and I'm pretty sure it's not legal in parks, but I could be wrong about that.

    If you're anywhere near Venice, just smoke there, you'd think it was legal there are so many people doing it out in the open all the time.

    I've never been approached by the police. I smoked in secluded or dark or quiet, low-traffic areas and I was very quick and subtle about it. (Past tense, haven't smoked in weeks.)
