I started this journey on 8/16/2019. 2 Seeds in a cup of water (pineapple chunk & GSC) Moved those 2 seeds under a plate, wrapped in a wet paper towel. Decent taproots after 2 days. Moved those 2 seeds to a red solo cup, saw it popping out of the ground literally the next morning. Started to water the top of the soil w/ tap water + Liquid Seaweed After seeds were out of the ground, escaping their shell, and leaves were noticeable, I put them on the seedling stage of Fox Farm (1Gal of Water w/ Big Bloom 6 tsp). pH levels are always at ~6.5, PPM is around 700 (w/ my tap + Big Bloom, within the range on the FoxFarm Guide) Light schedule is on a 18/6 Humidity: 50-60% Temps: 75-80F This is my first grow, so obviously mistakes will be made. The plants are green and about 1 inch in height, maybe a little more. However, I see a lot of people doing really amazing work even at 2 weeks in. I either think I'm lagging behind OR maybe my strain is just like this? Also, on the first picture, do you think that's a slight discoloration from a lack of nutrients or over watering? Thoughts?
Looks good! Your fine for being at 2 weeks. Maybe a little behind but from seed it always takes longer in my experience. 700 ppm on the nutes seems a little hot though. I normally feed 250-350 in coco. What soil are you using? If it's soil that has ferts I wouldn't even fed nutes for 2 or more weeks.
Well, with tap water, it show around 330PPM, and with Big Bloom added, it shows around 700PPM. Based on what I've read, i guess people are saying to separate the 2 out, and if that's the case, my PPM is around 370? Does that make sense or is that crazy to think that way? Soil: FoxFarm Ocean Forest I watered it on Tuesday this week. If it's dry on Friday/Saturday. Should I water it do you think w/o nutrients? Just straight tap?
Sorry saw it. Fox Farm Ocean Forest is hot. Don't use anything but tap for a 2 weeks. That maybe why your slightly behind. I used it for 5 years and everytime I transplanted I didn't nute for a bit.
One last thing @TheTHCwhisperer , should I pH the tap water this weekend w/o the nutrients? My tap water is around 8.5 pH.I know there are nutrients in the water (calicum/mag/sodium/etc). I'm guessing it'll need to be the 6.5 range to eat those up?
No problem. When I pop seeds and I don't very often because I grow from clone once I find a strain and pheno but I start in rockwool or some other inert medium. The seed has enough stored energy to pop open the seed and push it's way through and then for a few days it has reserves. I then start with 250 ppm of nutes. 330 ppm on the tap is high. You have no idea what's in that?? See if your city has a water test results online. Most cities do, How many plants are you growing? I would consider either buying distilled water or using an RO system. If you don't need that much water one of those zero water filters should help.
Good point - I bought a Brita Filter for my faucet. It says it takes out the chlorine...I'll trust it.
Unfortunately, they don't reduce PPM or very much of it. I'd have to get a RO for that. At least Brita guarantees somewhat of a reduction in chlorine. So it's around 330PPM. I guess if I had to, there is a water depot down the street. 1 Gal of water is 35 cents. PPM is around 15. I'd have to get some Calmag and add that. I'm not opposed to doing that. Thoughts?
Yes 15 ppm is is perfect. Find out if there is anything they add?. My tap is 50 ppm and I use a an RO but probably don't need to I just like to know I am starting at or near 0.
@TheTHCwhisperer Decided to water this morning with the purified water @ 6.5 pH, and some Liquid Seaweed. I noticed just now 4 more leaves starting to form. So I think everything is looking good. Just going to hold off on the FoxFarm nutrients for a bit.
