New here and first time grow

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by smalls-420, Feb 20, 2019.

  1. Hey everyone I'm new here I'm 22 I've been smoking cannabis for a little while and figured I'd try my hand at growing. I'll be starting a journal for my first grow even though I've already started the plants. I have added a photo of my best plant so far, I have five pineapple Express plants going as of now. My first three I forgot to right down when I started them but it's been about a month and a half. I have two more that just went in the soil on 2/14/19. These first plants had a rough start for the first few weeks but seem to be doing better now. My set up is a 32x32x63 tent with a 600w led grow light, light is on for 18/6, no nutrients yet, only watering with PH adjusted water from 6.5-6.8, tent temperature is 75-80 with RH of 70%-75%. I do use a small fan to circulate the air. Hoping you guys can give me some insight on growing when I could use a hand. 20190220_131448.jpg

  2. Heya smalls-420, welcome to GrassCity.
Good way to start. Not sure what your media, nutes, or light is.
Also, its preferred if you take pictures in natural lighting.
    Your plants look very healthy.

  3. Hey so I'm using black gold organic soil, I'm not using any nutrients yet, and the light is a phlizon 600w led grow light I picked up off Amazon. And noted on the pictures.

  4. Ok cool, idk much about organic, a little is all.
But I do know that the 600w light you purchased is only 108 watts. Just be aware of that. You may need more lighting later on to flower.

  6. in a 3x3?
Well, first off, consider purchasing modern PCB lighting commonly known as quantum boards. There are so many providers atm, many people refer to Horticulture Lighting Group, but there are many more companies. You can also use strip lighting (such as using LM09 samsung strips). This could really help in your grow area since you could mount a strip along each edge and use the blurple in the middle.
    kinda like:

here is a thread on the build I made:
    Samsung HinFlux L09 build

Here is a list of PCB light providers:
    Horticulture Lighting Group
    Shenzhen Meiju Lighting Co.
    Shenzhen R2T Electronic
    also KingBrite and Brite Electronics
    also Bava Electronics

let us know if you need more help.

  7. Welcome to GC. If you use those Chinese blurple lights you will need about 300 actual watts for the space you have. Good luck. :)

  8. 30-40W per square foot. 3x3 = 9 9*30= 270W. As Mick said, a bit more with blurples.
You might be better off just adding some strips. let me track a cheaper strip build for you...

  9. Alright guys I'm here to give a little update. It's been a little over a week since I posted this thread. I think I stated this before but my first two weeks were a disaster so I think these guys are a little behind. Since I have last posted I have been watering with the lift pot method I did add half the recommended dosage of cal mag to the three bigger plants. (The new growth slowed substantially and the new leaves were twisting seems to have fixed that) ph has been adjusted to 6.5, the temps have been high about 85°F I have added a second fan to help combat that, RH has been staying about 50%. I am using a 600w led about 24 inches away from the plants I will be getting a 1200w led in the mail tomorrow. Should I only run the 1200 or run both the 1200 and 600 together?
    As of 3/1/19 from germinated seed in soil. 20190301_113335.jpg 20190301_113345.jpg 20190301_113358.jpg 20190301_113406.jpg 20190301_113421.jpg 20190301_113427.jpg 20190301_113438.jpg 20190301_113442.jpg 20190301_113451.jpg 20190301_113500.jpg

  10. Looks like your doing great man. Just a few things I'm say.
    1. Little bit of stretch from the new guys. 24" with the Blurplemax 600. Is a lot put the back of your hand under the light and lower it until u can start to feel the heat. U don't want it hot but so u can feel it get a little warm.
    2. Do some research on a 400 watt MH/HPS all in one kit. Vivosun has a great affordable option on amazon. I will vouch for this company their products are very nice quality and priced fair. Unless your dead set on LED in which case be prepared to shell out at least $400 to $1000 for a LED that will let your plants flower to the best if their abilities. Do some research on people trying to flower with the Amazon/Ebay LED'S its kinda sad really.. But they are great for veg!!!
Anyways man keep it up your doing solid and it will only get better as you get your equipment figured out. Again theirs been way too many people deceived by these cheap LED'S consider the return of the new one while u can. Keep the old as a veg light and get a HPS or lower spectrum LED'S for flowering. The Samsung LED strips before are a great option if set on LED I would be using them 2 if the up front cost wasn't so much

    Much love

  11. Can't beat a whole new set up for. $350 and it will be at your door in 2 days!! This is exactly what I bought a month or so back and I Love all of it. Amazon makes it so easy. But seriously this light ore the 400 variant would do you wanders plus if you have a inline fan haveing the air cooled hood would help a lot with temps. Gonna get some stunted growth @85 and up Capture%2B_2019-03-05-01-39-38.jpg
