By "first bong" - i mean first "good, expensive, bong" What's up guys, new to the forums, but not to smoking. I've decided to go ahead and drop some serious cash and do it right and get a nice bong. I had a greenstar back in the day and it hit decent, but I have been smoking out of pipes for the last year or so. I'm ready to get a nice piece ... I've done some reading on the forums, but would just like some general tips/recommendations. So far, I think I am going to get one with a perc, diffuser, and probably an ashcatcher. May get a RooR or a Helix, but not really sure on the brand. The RooRs were the shit a few years ago, but haven't heard too much about them lately. I'm going to be buying at my local headshop, chill guys, and I don't expect they sell fake shit but who knows. Any suggestions as far as a good quality bong goes? Anything else I should look at getting with the perc, diffuser, and ashcatcher? Recommend any new brands? I'm thinking either 5mm or 7mm, prob a 14" - 18" Thanks guys
I'd either stick with a Sovereignty stemline or check out EFS glass. I hear good things about them but haven't owned one personally.
All i can say and do you research, I looked up as much as I could about my bong before bong I suggest you do the same P.s: Buy an extra downstem when you buy it. You will need it eventually
I'm trying to do the research, it's hard trying to decide what all I want/need with it. I just want something that has a nice good, smooth hit to it. And something that looks good and will last long.
I would go 18.8, i think the double sized down stem helps with drag, also make sure the down stem is diffused for that kinda money. If you get a bong with a tree perc, then it being reinforced is usually a good idea to keep it from breaking, the other perc designees are generally stronger i believe. Since your in the 14" - 18" range with a perc be sure it also has a splash guard so that when you clear it bong water doesnt fly up in your mouth, that would suck. Ice pinches are another good addition to a bong. I just got one with all that shit from California Glass for $150 + a/c for $50, but if you dont have a budget then you have all kinds of options! Happy bong shopping haha
If you are willing to spend over 300 then sovereignty stemline is a great piece. If you still want an ashcatcher for it I would just see what you can find in your budget. If you are willing to spend more then toro circ, 2011bc, or GMD custom all make great a/c's.
Great post. I'm not limiting myself to 14-18", might go a little bigger. Def going to get a diffuser. What do u mean by 18.8? I don't usually use ice, but I was thinking of getting the pinchers as well, might as well for the money. I'd rather go all out now on a serious good bong, then end up wanting something better later on. Thanks for the suggestions
Stemline same website will hopefully get some 2011bc ashcathers in sometime, and GMD is a custom company you can contact a lot of ways, search facebook for "a glasswork orange" or "glassmansdoll" and it should show up. Toro you can find locally a lot, and also on that same website above.
It depends what you want...do you have something with a fixed stem or something with a removable downstem?
18.8 is the size of the glass on glass joint where the downstem, bong, ashcatcher, and bowl piece connect. The standard sizes of these connections are 14.4 mill and 18.8 mill, 18.8 allows for more airflow and less drag but parts are a little more expensive.
