New guidelines to stay legal in CA

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by amsterdamage, Aug 26, 2008.

  1. I'm kinda not clear on the changes...and I am a patient so this relates to me.

Does every MMJ patient need to get a state MMP ID card?

  2. I was just reading that bit when I saw your post.

There's stuff on pages 2 and 4 about that, and a summary on page 5 (Section III, A, 2.)
Basically the rule is that you need a written or verbal recommendation from a licensed physician, and while the state MMP ID card program is voluntary, the guidelines strongly recommend that everybody participates in it.

Also read the "Enforcement Guidelines" in Section III, B, 4 & 5. It goes into how the MMP ID card will help patients when they have to deal with police.

    Good luck man! Stay safe.

  3. I gotta run to work now but I'll read it when I get home. Thanks amsterdamage :)

  4. Hey thanks for the info amdam, looks like the only thing that's really changed is the dispensary guidelines , right?

  5. Dude I really don't feel like shelling out 150 bucks for this state ID card.

I know that its recommended, but seriously.

It shouldn't cost me anymore than a driver's license.

  6. These new guidelines might have been released in the aftermath of the THC raid (this Friday).

"Attorney General Brown Shuts Down Illegal Marijuana Operation

LOS ANGELES – California Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced a raid on an illegal marijuana operation that used a medical marijuana dispensary as a front for massive illegal drug sales. On Friday, August 22, special agents from the California’s Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement (BNE) arrested two men in Los Angeles for the illegal possession, transportation and sale of marijuana in connection with a marijuana dispensary, Today’s Healthcare, in Northridge.

    ...

"'This criminal enterprise bears no resemblance to the purposes of Proposition 215, which authorized the use of medical marijuana for seriously sick patients,” said Attorney General Brown. “Today’s Healthcare is a large-scale, for-profit, commercial business. This deceptively named drug ring is reaping huge profits and flaunting the state’s laws that allow qualified patients to use marijuana for medicinal purposes.'"
