  1. Hey guys!

This wi|| be my information/question thread, information to hopefu||y he|p other noobs |ike me. P|ease bare with me guys, I |ive on my own is|and so this satte|ite connection is s|ow sometimes.

I have a space 36 inches wide and 50 inches long, by 10 feet tall.
Im going to start 7 seed|ings from germ.
Is 100 watts per cubic foot about right? I havnt purchased lighting yet, however im thinking of a 500 watt ballast, that changes from hps, to mh for best results?

    More to come soon!

  2. Is it best to start out with f|uros for the first coup|e of weeks instead, or go with the bigger end stuff?

  3. well i recommend going by the lumens instead of the watts (CRI), if you have the money i suggest picking up a switchable ballast (MH/HPS),

for your MH Bulb (Veg)(AgroSun Gold)(Slightly More Blue than Red) or HPS (Flowering)(Son Agro)(Slightly More Red than Blue), if you can only get one than i suggest the (Son Agro)

from personal experience using bulbs with both spectrums gives excellent results, if you have a both spectrum bulb than you'll be able to start out immediately under it

  4. Yes, im definitly interested in a 400-500 watt switchable ballast, preferably a kit that includes the ballast, shield, and bulbs. Do you know of any trusted online sources that arent too expensive for a product like this?

  5. i recommend Better Grow Hydro, they have an excellent privacy policy

  6. Thanks for your info, i|| be sure to check em out.

  7. for the perfect setup for your grow area, I would go with 2 4ft fluoros, and a 600-800 MH/HPS light. Start with the 4 footers above the plants until they get about 6" tall, then move your fluoros to the side and run your HID light. That is if you got the money. Otherwise go with the 600-800 MH/HPS HID light. When you start your plants sprout put them under the light 4ft from them until they get use to it then you can lower it.

  8. Thanks for your info conceptx. Has anyone ever used superthrive?

  9. Seems C02 is the on|y thing hard to get any info on in this forum.
Is there an easy way of making sure your plants get enough c02 or do you have to measure and monitor it like everythingelse?
Was hoping i could just buy some c02 cartridges and release them into the room every now and then, seems to easy though. Any thoughts on C02 guys?

  10. I just want to say how great this website is, and how much information can be found here. Everyone is really nice and im glad to be a member.

  11. High Anony! I got this one almost two years ago. It was $195 then, But it worth it. any cheaper than that and it may be junk.
I get alot of other stuff from the site too.

  12. omg! have u got a scroll wheel on ur mouse? :D
Shitloads of threads here on co2 bottles.
It's generally agreed - 2 cupfulls of sugar, bag of yeast, 2 cups of water, all in a 2ltr soda bottle with a pinhole in the top.
shake to mix & leave in ur grow area. k?

  13. Thanks for your info guys, specia||y on that c02. Not sure why i cou|dnt find anything on the forums about it ear|ier cause i can now. I tried using the search function, maybe it was down temporari|y or something.

Is there such a thing as too much c02?

  14. So just for kicks, I was looking online, and found a site that had two diff sets of 4 foot fluros.

One bulb was a full spectrum bulb , in an orange box, that was 2000 lumens. Said it was alot like the noonday sun.

The second bulb was in a blue box, didnt say full spectrum, but said it was a cool 3100 lumens. Which of these would one want to go with for veg? Maybe a mix of the two?

  15. Hey, cant find an answer to my fluro question, can anyone help before i plant?
Im thinking two of the blue 3100 lumens for the first 6-12 inches?

  16. look at the kelvin rating. since the fluros would be for veggin try to get 6500k fluros.

  17. Thanks mang. I saw these two in another place" Two 40 watt 3050 lumen, with a 6500 Kelvin rating.

  18. Can someone tell me if these are ok? Thanks for you help everyone.

  19. yes, those are the ones.

  20. just for a price check, another site where I have bought a switchable 400w setup on two separate occasions is clubhydro.com. on another note, a leftover trait from jurassic days is a plant can use 500% more CO2 than is in the atmosphere so you can really get great results. I don't have a system though but have looked into it. The whole yeast thing is extremely smelly and I have read it doesn't produce enough CO2 to make a difference. Also, CO2 is heavier than most elements in the air so you want the hose above the plants so the CO2 falls down onto them. I wanted to do CO2 as well but just don't understand why cannister and generator systems are so damn expensive.
