Immediate help is needed so that my plants dont die i HAVE STARTED A NEW GROW, BAG SEED... indoor closet, CFL Lights.. my 2 plants are a little over a week old and were planted in Fox Farm Organic Soil. I dont know when I'm supposed to start feeding my plants, but 1 of them isn't looking healthy and i dont want it to die on me... its yellow around the edges... What must I do...?? i already own some supernatural gro-terra 20-20-20, is it too early to start feeding?? I currently have my lights on 24 hours a day, i was gonna do 18/6, but i noticed that my cfl bulbs continue to blow out when i time them. i think they cant handle the continuous powering on and off and at the rate i was changing the bulbs, it started to become a little too pricey. can i do this 24hour lighting method throughout the entire vegetation stage? i will post pics of my entire set up once i get this problem solved picture one is the plant that seems ok.... pictures 2 & 3 is the plant thats not looking too healthy
You can start feeding your plants at about 3 weeks. Your NPK levels should always have a higher N level than the P and K (10-5-5 or 20-10-10 or 30-15-15), you get the picture. Now this is going to switch in the Flowering stage. It is going to need Half the N as the P and K ( 10-20-20 or 15-30-30 ect.). Your soils should always have all of your Macro and Micronutrients, Aswell as your Trace Minerals, and you can always add some POOP too. We keep our runoff PH at about 6.8-7.0, now this can differ from strain to strain but thats just the fun of Cannabis Research. Hope this helped. The CMC Family
If your lights are blowing out then let them ride 24/7 if the plants dont do well with 24/7 go to 18/6 and hit up home depot and get some switches for the lights. They have fuses inside the switches that will save you the blow out problem. I fed my plants from day 1. But I should not have. I would start feeding them now. Liquid Karma "botanicare" and Pro Grow, works very well and will run about $30-$40 for both in 1 QT containers. If money is a problem You can get some Worm Castings and blend them into water and get it nice and soupy, pour it over the top soil and water it every 2-3 days to get the casting into the root system, don't do this after you transplant. Get anything that has High N low P & K 10-2-4 something like that. Don't over water. Make sure the soil is fairly dry before watering. the root system can store water for enough time.
Thanks for the help... what kind of switches should i use because i currently have all the lights connected to one outlet... here are pictures of the lights..
You might just consider putting the lights in sets of 2 instead and seeing if that solves the problem and a surge protector would also fix problems like that. The switches I'[m talking about are a bit pricey. I would have to get a picture of 1 and post it so you know what it looks like. Try the surge protector first then set the lights in sets of 2 if that does not work.
im going to go look for a cheap light timer in the morning... i only put the 4 bulbs per light fixture because that seemed like the easiest way to fit 8 bulbs for 2 plants in there... i guess im gonna have to get more creative
hey people, ran into a few problems! ..one of my plants died, but i have a new one just planted, its Kush! so i hope that whatever happens with the plant on the left can be help with the Kush grow... the other one is giving me a few problems.... leaves are starting to turn yellow... its about 3 and a half weeks old... HELP/??!?...also... I have a soil testing kit from lowes, but i have no idea how to use it..
That yellowing looks like classic N deficiency. It's easily fixed. Are you feeding yet? If not, go ahead and begin. Also it might be wise to check the pH of your soil. If the pH is bad, it prevents some elements from being absorbed. What are you feeding them? Correction: no it doesn't. Looking closer, those leaves are browning, not yellowing. Not good. Check pH, and describe the food and your watering habits.
Hey whoa! I think that the browning is exclusive to the bottom leaves. What do you think Kamel? I think this is because they have died, due to the plant reusing all of the nutrients. They simply stayed on they plant because our OP did not remove them. I say you were right the first time: Nitrogen deficiency. The second lowest set of leaves looks text-book.
Yeah that's what I thought but check out the first picture, the closest leaf. When my leaves would yellow, they'd yellow all the way through before turning brown. That leaf is half brown half green with some yellow in between. I think there's more going on, I bet it's bad pH. Edit: yes...upon further research that rapid browning looks like P deficiency as well. Could be one, could be both. Either way, check the pH first to know if there simply isn't enough food in the soil, or if pH is preventing the plant from taking any in.
Thanks Everybody, i fed it for the 1st time about a week ago...half strength... then full strength about 2-3 days ago when leaves started to turn yellow/brown... its planted in fox farm ocean forrest soil and i have supernatural gro terra 20-20-20 plant food... by the way: i dont know how much is a proper feeding or how often to feed
Not supposed to go from half strength to full strength like that. You have to wean them. Start off at like 1/4 then go a little more, work your way up to half, then slowly work up to full strength. If you even can. I've been at half strength for weeks now. You gave it too much too fast. Back off to 1/2 strength and leave it there for awhile. SLOWLY raise it over time.
Its the ocean forest. This is very common. Its very strong for young plants, especially ones that are fertilizer sensitive. From what I hear, you want to mix it 50/50 with a soil by the same company called " light warrior" You should check your runoff ph like Kamel said. If you can't do that, flush right away. Flush them good and when you transplant use a soil with less nutrients. I say you should never use that bagged pseudo-organic shite, but that's just me. I like my mediums inert.
