New grow tent! I can't get light High enough? ideas?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by JKill, Feb 23, 2019.

  1. Hey everyone, Just got my new grow tent set up today. its looking good and it was a great buy for the price. I'm in week 2 of flowering. DWC set up, 3 part GH blend with CALiMAGic and ArmourSI. 600W phlizon (blurple) grow light.

got the tent set up, got the plant in, and got the light set up only to realize the light is closer than it should be to the plant and the plant still has lots to grow.... I know of things like LST but i'm assuming its to late to start something like that at this point in the plants life? any suggestions? here are a few pics.

As of now i do not have carbon filter or intake fan. that will arrive next week. i'm going to see if putting a fan inside the tent and opening one air vent will provide enough air flow from getting to hot.

I know most people will say stay away from the Blurple, its what I have to work with FOR NOW. thanks!

    Thanks for any help!!!!!

  2. Supercrop her. Find the height you want her and snap her neck.

  3. Perhaps you can also try using one wire per side to hang your lights instead of two, similar to the pic below. Then just center the fixture and put a piece of duct tape to prevent it from sliding. I was forced to try this technique when I was still learning to work with LED's during a Blue Dream grow a while back.

  4. I already Topped the plant, would i have to supercrop down past the point that i topped?

  5. Plenty of room up there. Macguyver that shit onto a shorter lead to hook to.

  6. Take 2 of the suspension cables out.

Cross cross the remaining 2 like this.

That’s only 2 of the cables Ran corner to corner cross crossed over each other. I just looped the 2 extra cables on there so I don’t lose them.

I cut my overhead in HALF this way.

    Try it

  8. My tent is staying at a temp of about 20C. which is fine as far i know? the Humidity however, now that the DWC is contained inside the tent has jacked up to 60% which i believe is a bit high, Flower stage I think should be about 40%-50%????best way to remedy this is with a fan or dehumidifier?

  9. If u can afford it... a good dehumidifier will allow you to maintain a steady RH which plants LOVE ;)

  10. Daytime temps are 20C? Could be a tad higher imho. You can try a regular fan first to get rid of some of the humidity or an intake? Not sure what would be cheaper to buy, an intake fan and some ducting or a dehumidifier.

its tough keeping temps up here. it was -45C last week outside. brrrrrr

Yeah i'm definitely ordering these 2 pieces next friday.

would this fan/filter and some duct work work for the smell/moving air around???

    or am i missing something??

do i need a fan to bring in fresh air as well as one to push out air through the filter??? or does one fan through the filter work?

I have a really good Dehumidifier/AC/FAN unit but its freaking huge. don't think i could fit it in the tent.

    its like 24x16x12

right now i've just got it on fan mode blasting the outside of the tents vents trying to get some air flow through.
can't keep it below 60% humidity with the door shut though, and the some leaves have water droplets appearing on them... i guess i'll have to keep the door open until I get a fan and or smaller dehumidifier ? thanks guys.

    *UPDATE*

Going to try to rig up some ducting to use the fan and get it blasting air into the tent. I will still be ordering the other 4" fan and 4" carbon filter if anyone has any thoughts?

    Thanks again all!

  13. Wow, now that’s cold. I retract my previous comments. Kudos for keeping them at least at 20C then lol.

That would work. You’re going to eventually need the carbon filter anyway. Good luck.

  17. Shorter buckets. Look into 5 gallon “totes”.

Then use 3.5in net pots to give more room for solution in the tote.

That’s exactly what I do because buckets are just too tall.

Get black ones and they will they light proof. Otherwise just tape some black/white poly white side up all around it. I’ll post pics of that too in a bit.
