New grow closets, need help with lamp size and sq. footage

  1. I have already bought the supplies to setup my grow op. I will have 3 closets total, 1 for veg, clones, and mothers, and the other 2 for flowering. The flowering chambers will run 600 watt HPS's on a flipboard, so one ballast running two lights. Are my 600's enough for my 5 by 5 foot space? Can I go bigger or should i go smaller. My closets are being custom built for my application so I can specify any size. Also, what strain what you all reccommend for me? I want what every indoor grower wants: taste, yield, and high. Higher yielding would take preference ofcourse. Where would you reccommend ordering for stealth and speed?

  2. 5x5x? bro= square footage-.it will be big enough bro if its high enough for a plant..what kind of exhaust and intake are you going for in this square footage? Do you have a cool hood? and reflectant in the room? soil/hydro? co2? strain ur growing

  3. good rule of thumb is 5o watts per square foot.

    5x5 = 25

    25x50 = 1250

    A 1000 watt would be ideal but id say 600 could work fairly efficiently as well. Itd probably be better using the 600 to prevent a redflag for the electric company.

  4. 600's will be fine. plan for ventilation! those fuckers throw out some heat.

  5. Yea I have thought of ventilation. Odor is not an issue where I am growing but heat definitely will be. Anyone know a good way to air condition the 3 closets without buying an air conditioner and thermostat? These are going to be in a garage so the heat will be crazy around summer time... Also, can anyone reccommend a good place to buy seeds that ships fairly quick to the states, and maybe a high yield strain?

    Oh btw I am doing bubble buckets on this grow with BGH diaphram airpumps. I havent thought of how to cool those lights yet, I will probably fabricate my own. I will be buying a roll of mylar ofcourse for reflective surfaces in the chambers. Not using co2 for now, a bit too expensive for me at the moment, maybe next cycle if this works out I will.

  6. You guys worry to much about red flagging electric comany, do you realize that a small electric space heater will use 1500 watts. Go with the 1k lights.

  7. Hey This is Hollywood 08, ? Would A Cadet Wall Heater put out more watts then a 1k Cause I was gonna go with A 400. Let me know PEACE!!!!!!!!!!
