OK so my first seed did not do so well. I ditched my peat cubes and went straight to my soil mixture...With great success!! I planted the seed on a saturday, gave it some water (tap-pH~6.7) and went upstate for about a day and a half. When I returned my new plant was .75 in tall!! the following days I saw growth of about .75 in per day until it stopped at about 4 inches. Since it has jest been getting denser and denser with leaves. While I was at first excited, I look at my internodes which are less than 1 mm. It is White Widow so I expected it to be short and bushy but is this too dense/short? Pics are exactly 12 days since planting. I hope someone can help me with my little concerns: 1. Too dense/bushy and short as mentioned before. using 2 45W CFL's 5500k about 3 inches from canopy. I know I can lengthen the plant by raising my lights but I'm temporarily using these weak ass light bulbs until i find time to build my permanent stealth box. (for which I have 2 2' t5's @ 24W and 6400k each, as well as a 125W CFL with hood 6400k). Im thinking also it could be out growing the pot it is in. I water from both the top and the bottom with no nutes. I just noticed a small white root protruding from one of the drainage holes. Can this be keeping my plant short? the pot is still a few inches taller than the plant. Is it ready for transplant? 2. Transplanting my soil mixture is really loose 1/1/1 parts organic compost/perlite/peat potting mix. how should i go about transplanting? I feel even when moist, the soil will just pour out and not hold shape. 3. peeling stem? my stem as well as the bottoms of some of my leaves are purple. I assumed it could be either the breed/conditions of growing (73-79 degrees F, 35%RH) or Mg deficiency. I sprayed with Epsom Salt solution just in case. Recently I realized my stem was peeling. the purple layer is peeling off revealing a very green stem. is this normal? is it just secondary growth? Well those are my main concerns. Would love any advice or better if everything is A OK! I plan to ScrOG at 8" but it seems all the leaves are growing out of the middle with no real lateral branches. and advice??? Pics for progress and some problems are shown. Disclaimer: These are medicinal tomato plants growing in the closet of my imagination. all photos are fabricated and have no relation to my post.
