So this was my first time to take clones today. I hope it all went well. I used rooting powder and put them in jiffy peats or w/e. I think I probally cut them a little bigger then I needed too. I cloned them from 2 of my plants in veg, hopefully both will be female lol. Feel free to offer any suggestions on the job I did. Sorry for the low quality pics, I lost my digital camera a few weeks ago.
those are pretty tall... you dont need all that stem ... make your cut ( see pic) here next time .. every one of those node you cut the stem/leaf off of, You leave open to the air another wound your plant gonna have to heal , while it is in the process of trying to make roots. Istead only strip away the parts that are gonna be in the jiffy pellet, and make the cut a 45% angle just below the node. hope this helps not confuses. peace and GL
Yup I did a 45 degree cut when I took em all. Thanks Wharfrat74, Ill have to keep that in mind for next time. Is it better to strip off the leaves you won't need before you take clones off of the plant that way the wounds have a day or 2 to heal? And its natural for clones to droop for the first few days right?
its best to strip off as little as possible. ok heres the deal, your clone will only be able to uptake nutrients thru foliar feeding, till it has roots. ( same with water ..which is why your getting some droop. if it contiues past a week, W/O any signs of improving take another batch) so your little "soon to be plant" has to get the food to live somehow, and it does that by eating itself. those leaves that die off during cloning... they are not JUST dying, so much as doing thier job protecting the plant, and giving it what it may need to help rooting. dont' worry...you'll see what I mean.
