Alright guys iv just aquired a clone off a friend whos moved town its had no light for 24 hours and still looks reasoably healthy but as been placed under a 75w cfl temorarily. iv watered around the plant but not on the pant with distilled water.it was under a 20/4 600w hps with around 20 other baby clones.i have a few questions? How old does this plant look? Isit time to repot? Wen should i start ading nutes?i have some mircle-grow all purpose soluble plant food shoud i add this? Could i keep it under a total of 250w cfls for now untili get a hps light? Would i absolutely need a ballast as i have a leed that could plug into the reflector of the hps goin directly to the socket? Anything else i need to know? Thankyou to any1 who replys help is much appreciated, sorry 4 my noobness
You need a bigger pot for it. Do you know what strain it is? Probably 2 or 3 gallon should be okay for the time being, but it looks like it's got sativa in it, which means it might get pretty large. Do you know how large his plants were that this came from? A good rule of thumb is 1 gallon for 1 foot of growth. If that's 250 actual used wattage of CFLs, it should be fine for the whole grow (if it's equivalent, what is the actual watts. You only need about 100 per plant). Get it surrounded by something matte white too, to reflect light. Can't tell you the age without totally guessing. Genetics can make it vary greatly. Nutes should be fine to give it at this stage, every other day or 3. Something like that.
Thankyou im glad you share my love for sativa and iv plenty of height for the grow and they are energy saving bulbs and probably totals 60-70w but does this matter its the light and lumens that important, i think the clones came fom blues genetics and were around 4 1/2 feet tall not too sure, blue cheese, blue mystic. You have been of great help sorry for the limited details and do i add nutes for every watering?
Dude you still have some reading to do. You need actual wattage for the lights not pretend ones. Also If you do run a HPS then you need a ballast!!! Good luck, the clone looks healthy. Do some reading and get youself some kick ass dank bud at the end of it.
Based on what you said a 5 gallon pot might be ideal for you. Also, on average you should use 50-100 watts per plant. You're probably fine with your lights. You want to make sure they're listed as 6500K (I think they call it warm white). Just look at the box, and generally it will say so, although sometimes it won't. Once you switch your light cycle to 12/12, change to 2700K bulbs. Read some of the stickys on here; they're incredibly helpful.
Thanks again to both of you i have been thoroghly reading about growing and wer setting up a grow room but then the cutting came alon and i need to keep it alive whilst making the grow room
Also has anyone any experiance with mircle-grow all purpose soluble plant food if so what ratio should i use
Their all purpose is pretty good with 24-8-16 for vegetating. Their bloom booster is 15-30-15, and would be good for flowering.
You absolutely need a ballast. Plug an HPS bulb directly into the mains without one, and it´s goodbye expensive bulb! You also need an ignitor, but some ballasts have the ignitor built in - mine doesn´t.
Thanks for the help again guys, Im sure to set up a grow journal once everything is set up Iv still got a few things to get: - 5 Feminised Cheese seeds £25 - 600w sylvania Grolux bulb 13.50 - Sheeting what kind do i want for the cop helicopters? + black and white sheeting - 600w ballast - reflector what would you advise on buyin first as cash is short and can spare around 20kwid a week here is the new temporary grow box until i have bought this equipment
Yo dude, you can get some IR blocking stuff for the helicopter but really you don't need with a 600w. Good luck
