Drew this up last night as a birthday gift for my sister(nobody tell) It's a drawing of one of our dogs that passed away a few years ago and my sister loved her a lot. I got it matted and framed and everything so I'm hoping it turns out to be a good gift. Final product. What do you think? It's a bit abstract but I wanted it that way, that's what I feel like charcoal is about.
Looks good! I bet it was fun to draw. Charcoal is actually really fun to work with I think. Did you use a rubber eraser (forgot their other name) to lighten it? I'm glad you can do a signature worth a damn too. I kind of shy away from that and opt for a tiny little initialing in the corner.
Are you talking about one of those erasers that look like chewed up gum? I couldn't find mine but I would have used it a bit. I used an eraser one time on the whole drawing, the rest I did with just charcoal sticks and my fingers. I love getting dirty when I'm working with charcoal, it's so fun.
Yeah that's exactly what I was talking about. Some artists we are, huh? Actually it just came to me I think it's called a kneading eraser. Maybe. Anyway I'm sure your sis will love it.
That is what it's called lol I just said that. I hope my sis likes it, we've been kinda distant over the past few years because of my drug use so I'm trying to do something nice for her to kinda bring an end to our constant fighting.
