New car today

  1. Today is when I go shopping for a car. Not just any car I have my heart set on a 1982 BMW E30 with a 1.6 liter engine.

Why would I purchase such a nice car with such a small engine? Well I need a car for Ice Racing. The ice racing circuit is littered with VWs, Hondas and other small cars. Rarely do you see anything as beautiful on the amateur course (BMW's are used int eh GTX class in more professional races).

How many of you have experience with Ice Racing? Any of you have a favorite vehicle?

  2. Pic or it didn't happen.

But really, I've never heard of ice racing before..

    Sounds.. interesting.

Nice man, good luck with finding one. Is there any reason you want the 1.6? Whats wrong with the 1.8? I'd imagine its way easier to find.

I'm in the market for a first car, and looking for a clean e30 325i/is. Ive looked and test drove 4 of them already. Just waiting for the perfect one. E30's are just too damn sexy, and timeless. I cant wait until i pull the trigger and buy one.

All the ones I've looked at were 2+ hours away. One guy in town has a MINT Black 325is, its becoming a safety hazard when i see it in traffic :p

    +1 Pics

  4. just curious but why not look for a 325 ix ? you could def find one that was pretty cheap in the e30 body style. also i didn't know they made a 1.6 engine i only thought they did a 1.8 but do you want the smaller engine due to weight causing you to slip around corners more or something. I ve never really ice raced.

  5. Never heard of ice racing!! Sounds dope !!!

  6. Ice racing is a crazy fun sport. So far I have seen a couple shitty cars at the wreckers... A couple escort lx's, a 240sx, pulsars and a couple others.

I have somebody trying to sell me a 91 Integra (Which I might just buy). With ice racing you want a very small, light car and a tiny engine. The reason the engine matters is because of the classes. I want to be in the smallest displacement class and go relatively slow for my first time out at the track.

  7. Where do you race ??

  8. Usually on frozen lakes.

There is no way in helll I would drive any car out on a frozen lake..

  10. Just get a VW, they pretty much kick ass on the ice with the engine in the back and all, plus since your racing I assume you'll be doin some modifications and vws are the easiest things to work on and parts are everywhere so if you tear somethin up its no big deal. Just my 2cents

  11. lol...crazy Canadians and their ice racing
