New Book "Diary of the Stoned Teen"

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by tjs65, Feb 1, 2009.

  1. I had this thought after smoking a personal. I'm thining about publishing a book of diary entries (written while high) i did back when i was 16, and how marijuana has had such a positive influence on me. I'm wondering if you guys think i should go for it or if its no worth it. The entries will consist of (not in order yet):
    1. My Life - talkig about my insecurity, the trouble I got in for trying to be somebody
else, and the effect that it has had on my family and me.
    2. Love - Just my two cent on the four letter word
    3. Friends - My P.O.V. on friendship and trust
    4. Marijauna - How marijuana helped me relieve alot of things and helped me in many ways.
    5. My Generation - I come from a predominantly black neighborhood and it was very wild when i was 16. I mean girls pregnant in middle school, teens dying and their murders were other teens, theis night club for teens where all they do is volgar dancing and fight, ect.
    6. Religion
    7. Sex & Pornagraphy
    8. Music - the effect rap has had on me

Do you have any suggestion on anything i should do?

Maybe I should just pick one topic and go from their?

Maybe I should leave a topic out?

Should I use a pseudonym (don't want to mess up any job oppertunities)

  2. Entry 1: today I got some cheeseburgers and they tasted AWESOME :smoking:

lol jk, this sounds like a good idea if you can articulate why marijuana has such a positive effect on you. I feel it would be helpful if you sorta tied in all the different parts of your story to some sort of social commentary on mj.

  3. [IMG]

    is that right steven?

    im just bein a dick.
but hey man, it sounds like a good idea. but the real question is can you follow through on it?

  4. I think it sounds like a great idea. I wouldn't call it that exactly but I see exactly what you're saying. I'd write yourself a nice foward, go through the diaries, edit for grammar, organize and *bam*. You're good to go.

Personally I'd want it organized chronologically.

  5. do it, it sounds like a good idea. like someone above said, i would tie MJ in every topic. also tell how your views have changed ever since u been on the mj

  6. A little easier than getting a book published......

Make a website, you've already organized your stuff into "chapters" so just put it up on a website.

If its good, and you get visitors, you can make $$ on advertisement.

IMO, its easier to share when its on a website.

  7. nobody is gonna buy a book about a random teenager smoking weed sorry.. maybe if it was free on the internet

  8. LOL yea,

Today: Me and my friends got blazed and watched the spongebob marathon, it fuckin ruled, later we listened to Cypress Hill and ate some BK Lounge, it also fuckin ruled.

Jk, I'm just busting your balls, it sounds like a good idea. Make a less generic title and I think I would buy it.

  9. Now i dont want to offend or be a dick but here we go,
A guy with a diary, your probably gonna shoot some place up, guys with diaries are just waiting to snap and kill people. Also guys don't have diaries, girls do. Guys repress their feelings and drink/smoke them away or wait til they manifest into a heart attack. However as gay as the fact of having a diary is, It doesn't sound half bad

  10. Dude, watch Finding Nemo. The plot won't make any goddamn sense, but the colors will give you a serious mindfuck. Lol, I was at my friend's sister's house, and we just finished smoking this fat blunt. We were so blazed, and Finding Nemo was on TV for some reason. That shit was trippy... I was lost in that world, lol

  11. What is it that you have to say that other people haven't already said and done before? What is it about your perspective that makes it unique (other than it's yours)?
Do you have good writing skills and is your life interesting to others who don't know you?

As an experiment in journaling, I'm all for that. But as a publishable writing venture you need to seriously think through your idea. Most adults aren't going to care about a "random teenager" who smokes dope. There have been millions of random teenagers in the world who smoked dope. Not many of them have the skills of say a Jim Carroll or William Wordsworth.

If you even get those last two references I'll be impressed.

  12. ignore the naysayers, I'd pick it up. sounds like an interesting read.

  13. I'd get 2 copies...and make a secret stash out of one of them :hello:

  14. I would read it too. But you should have an in depth analysis for each entry and the whole book, and if you remember the buds, talk about those too.

  15. If any one has ever read the "Adrian Mole" series its basically a british boy writing in diaries through his life of 13+. They are pretty funny talks about every thing OP talked about with the exception of weed (basically substituted cigarettes for weed).

Those were pretty popular cult books, your idea could go one of two ways; people love it and appreciate the weed/teen struggles (although it really would only appeal to your generation because the views on weed have/are changing and future generations might not be able to relate) or its a novelty item in headshops. The weed equivalent of porn to teens.

  16. That's what you meant right? It would be a good read, but I bet when your no longer stoned your gonna forget about it.

  17. Sounds like a Best Seller.... HAHAHHAHAW

  18. If you mean where it goes from first to last. As in day 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc. Then Yes.

  19. sounds cool.

it might be difficult to get a book published so you could attempt some sort of blog/website where you post up one entry a week or something like that.

  20. the influence that rap has had on you because of weed?
