Hi, all you folks at Grasscity... thanks for an informative website. I am an retired airline pilot and veteran of the Air Force looking to open a Las Vegas Area co-op for the legal sale of medical marijuana. So far, it appears as if the laws need to be updated and made reasonable so those who physically need it---and are legally entitled to use it---can obtain it in a safe, reliable, affordable manner. I and my business associate want to cater to veterans (we will charge a small surcharge to all non-veterans, say 5%, and offer a discount to veterans). I believe by presenting a coordinated approach emphasizing medical use (vs. the recreational stigma); the effective use of pain control for veterans with pain from battle wounds; and that it's ridiculous for Nevada to REQUIRE a user "grow their own" vs. making a safe, reliable, affordable drug readily available under strict but manageable state laws. After all, how many lawmakers would actually be using aspirin, acetomeniphin, or ibuprofen if they had to manufacture it at home? I propose that we form a coalition of present users and entrepreneurs who desire to change Nevada laws to allow for Co-ops and/or pharmacy-type retail stores. Our function would be single-purpose: to assemble a well-researched and fact-based argument for retail medical marijuana and present it to the Nevada legislature for consideration. I believe the climate is favorable for change in our state, as the West Coast has successfully demonstrated the ability to serve a medical need without the oft-feared consequences of inappropriate use, or neighborhood decline. Please let me know what you think. Join me if you would like to see medical marijuana legally availble to buy from a local retailer in Nevada.
