Neurosurgeon smoking weed?

Discussion in 'General' started by Crates, Feb 8, 2014.

  1. Are there any doctors on here who smoke/vaporize weed?

If you were going into the field of neurosurgery , would you smoke weed? Or  do you need as much cognitive skill as possible , and you would refrain from drinking or drugs?

  2. Seems like a bad idea. Neurosurgery is dangerous and I'd hope the doctor was sober.

  3. Not on the job haha. I mean if you were studying and training to become one.

  4.

    hmmm..are they people, yes
should they be in top shape to operate, yes
guess since any drug would impair them they had best stay away from all drugs. alcohol, tobacco, rx's...at work even side effects of those in a DR could kill people, or maim.

Simple blood test to be sure they had no active compounds present prior to starting work?

Did a case study for law classes back at uni that involved this scenario with alcohol, eye opener during legal research...Dr's have been showing up to work, drunk and high, for 'many moons' it seems...
