Nervous about getting a new tattoo

  1. So tomorrow I go in to see what my artist drew up for me. I told him I want a colorful tree going up my ribs. I want it to be positive and colorful. I have a tat on my back, but I am really nervous about this one...Just the fact that its going to be on me forever haha. Anyone else have this feeling before they go in?

  2. Always, up until he starts i get a thousand bad thoughts in my head thinking why the hell did i do this again... then once its all said and done i look at it and go "thats why, because it looks fuckin amazing" its all in your head man. just make sure it's exactly how you want it, picky is good... unless its something really minor. let the artist have a little of his/her own creativity.

Well I hope this doesn't scare you but the ribs are one of the most sensitive areas to get tattoos. Every customer who had their ribs tattooed said it's their most painful tattoo. The best way to get over the feeling of the needles is to kind of drift off to your "away" place. Bring in an ipod, close your eyes and just relax while the artist lays down their work....it's not that it's a bad pain, it's an annoying one that just pisses you off. I had my chest tattooed and i know the sternum was painful, my buddy who has a full body suit said his ribs hurt more than his sternum.

I have tattoos in some of the more tender spots of the body, i was nervous before every one and i literally grew up in a tattoo parlor so i always knew what areas were tender. I just made sure to get the bad ones done first so all the others come easy, lol.

  4. Yea I was super nervous. It does hurt so be prepared, but I got my tat on my arm so it might be less sensitive.

  5. Im also nervous that I may not like his drawing. I gave him general ideas but im going to be really picky about it...would he be up to drawing something else if I didn't like his drawing tomorrow? I already gave him my deposit on it. Im getting pumped up for it, its all I have been thinking about.

  6. if you don't like his drawing then don't be afraid to tell him, it's his job to do EXACTLY what you want because its YOUR skin. Trust me when i tell you that artists (at least most) don't get offended if you wanna change your drawing, they completely understand because they know when they get tattooed that they don't want something stupid on them.

  7. ^ Thats what I was figuring, I've just never really done this sort of thing before. I've never came up with a more complicated idea.
