Negative pressure enough to stop smell?

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by Snackfood, Oct 7, 2011.

  1. Okay so I had a question. Say I have my box, got an exhaust fan and a carbon filter, and there obviously needs to be a place for air to come in. Should I put carbon filters on my intake as well, or should the negative air pressure be enough to make sure the smell doesn't seep out?

  2. Putting a carbon filter on the intake, assuming it's coming from a clean non smelly room, is a waste of a filter. Why would you want to filter the clean air? It already doesn't smell!

The negative pressure will keep the smell out. It'll be better if you install a small intake fan though, just so your intake isn't huge and leaks.

  3. Run the fan 24/7 to prevent smell leakage. Put the carbon filter on the exhaust.

  4. This is how almost everyone does it. No smell should escape the intake
