Need Trimming Advice ASAP

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Konos, Sep 20, 2009.

  1. Wanting to clean up the bottom of my plants, they're a week into flowering and super super healthy, just want to make sure it's not going to stun them at all. They are GDP, and I'm thinking that it will totally give more energy to the cola's going up top. ANY input appreciated

  2. you can trim away the leaves that dont recieve light, your plant is eventually going to get rid of these anyway. However wait until week 3 into flower to do it otherwise youll have really slow growth. My motto is wait until they are well into budding before you trim that way your plants get a lot of energy from those leaves when they start producing buds.

  3. Yeah I talked to a friend of mine that does it very similar to that. I took off the lower BS branches and flowers, just because I'm thinking it will contribute dramatically to the growth of the upper cola's.

  4. trimming leaves stunts growth?
    hmm

my mother plant is VERY bushy. i mean you cant even see the soil. the clones are the same way so once a week i have to go in there and trim off new leaves so the new side branches have light... that would explain why they arnt growing fast!

  5. I don't really care too much about sarcasm so don't bother talking unless you have something semi-intelligent to contribute to my garden. Like I said, I trimmed half way through veg a lot of the leaves and it made them spurt and grow a great deal. Today I just took off the lower stuff and stripped the lower 4 branches down to mainly the end 2 future colas. Hoping it is beneficial for me.

  6. you want to trim all your red stemed leafs. and get rid of all the crap on the bottom the plant with concentrate more on the tops. I trim my red stemed fan leafs weekly all the way to week 5 of flower. This has increased my yield

  7. who's being sarcastic? im being serious....

though the stunt in my garden could be as a result of crappy soil causing high ph. i trim my leaves almost weekly because the mother plant is soooo bushy. and the clones are too now. i snip the big leaves to make room for the new side branches turning into tops. check my journal.

what do you mean by red stems? you mean the purple coloration due to lack of proper nutrient? theres a link in my signature that explains the purple coloration. could mean phosphorus deficiency and or ph problems. thus it would be ideal to trip the lower leaves that are obviously being ignored by the plant to produce leaves in the upper area.. that makes sense i've just never noticed this before since i LST and i dont really have lower leaves. they all get equal light typically.

i know topping the plant causes it to heal where you cut and then transfer energy to the sides and creat new tops. that does indeed stunt. but i'm curious to hear if actually cutting fan leaves cause stunting.

  8. I know what you're talking about British I think. Since it is GDP the larger sun leaves below the flower stems all have purple tint. Typically I thin these out a little just to open up the canopies, but should I just get rid of most? There are still 2-3 sun leave per pre-flower, which I think are going to be much more important and have much more light getting to them.
