Im in the market for a new laptop, my current dell is not up to par, performance wise. Im looking for a laptop that will be fast enough to handle moderate multi-tasking and multimedia. I would also like to be able to play some games from time to time (not games like crysis or battlefield 3). Im eyeing this laptop right now. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Lenovo+...93862&id=1218720760463#tabbed-customerreviews What do you guys think? A good buy? Other suggestions for a laptop are welcome too. $800-850 is my top dollar, im willing to spend right now.

Just know its the 1 from the commerical prob lowest model. I think she got it for like 900$ at bestbuy. Edit: series 9. Im not sure on everythin of it. But the hr i used it to browse intrnet and youtube it was very nice/good display
The laptop you posted has an i5 but integrated graphics. While it will run games its not going to be the best, as most laptops have dedicated graphics cards now. But saying that, it will probably will even run BF3 at lowest settings lol But check out Acer, Asus, Samsung. That's what i would check first when looking for a laptop. I like HP too, but i havent seen their current models much. Levono is good for the money also. 800$ will get a real nice laptop. Also if you are looking to buy in store, im not sure where you live, but Micro center has amazing deals usually. Their online store is decent too, but if you are able to go in store its a great store. Best buy is kind of a rip off IMO.... And dont listen to anything that Geek Squad says lol, they just want more money. They always recommend Norton and stupid shit

I agree bestbuy is overpriced, but bestbuy is really the only in-store place i can look in my area.

Try newegg.com and ncix.com. both sites have great deals on everything computer and laptop
This is true, but he cant even feel the laptop. Alot of people wont drop 800$ on something they have never seen in person.... But that suck best buy is only place around... You sure? So many places have computers these days, its only a matter of time before CVS pharmacy sells them lol You have no walmart, BJ's wholesale, or electronic stores? Where you live? And i5 is probably what you want, but new i3's are great too. If you are just looking to surf and word processing then i3 should be enough and save you money. Could always go AMD, but i say they get too hot in a desktop already.... so fuck that.
What about a Asus K series with 4gb ram(expandable to 8), AMD A-8? I do have a walmart but they only carry like 4 laptops in store and i dont want to order one online for the exact reason you said lol.
PC laptop buying guide Good site, recent article. I trust their advice. As Jumbo said, you need dedicated graphics to play games of that calibre.
My walmart is a super walmart i guess because it has a bunch. But yea i totally understand not wanting to buy one without touching it. I would feel the same way, especially with a laptop. with everything basically built in... Asus is nice. Also check out Acer they make decent stuff for a good price.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus---...digo/6087209.p?id=1218717240847&skuId=6087209 ^Im probably going to go with that Asus. It seems like it will be able to handle what i need to do. (Web surf, music, light gaming) I understand it wont be able to play modern games well, or probably not at all lol but i have my xbox for my serious gaming.
I'm looking at these two: Inspiron 17R Inspiron 17R Special Edition can't decide if the latter is worth the extra $200 that I could spend on a zip instead haha.. I'm not really into gaming except for maybe some NBA 2K13, which I don't think should require a dope video card... but I'm getting into video editing and the higher res screen would be real nice.
if you're going with something $600+ maybe look into ultrabooks? they tend to run really well, super portable, enough specs to play some lower end games
I don't recommend either of those. Fuck Dell. And i didnt know they had NBA 2K for PC, my mind is blown right now lol.
I'm actually getting a macbook pro with retina display in about a month. Looks amazing. I would recommend that. The only time i would buy a mac is if it was a laptop. For desktops im PC all the way.
