Hey everybody. So I just got a call from my parents asking if they could stay at my house for a day or two while they are passing through my town. I have discussed my use of marijuana as a sleep aid with them, but it would break my mother's heart if she found out I was growing. Thus, my problem arises. I'm currently using AC 120v 3.5" fans to vent, but that sounds like a small jet plane is trying to take off from within my closet; not very stealthy. I am looking at inline fans, but am worried they too will be a bit noisier than I would like. My closet is 31" x 44" x 96" = about 75ft^3. My light is 240w Blackstar LED. Would add some CFLs if I could keep temps down. I would like to stay sub $100 if I can, but If there is a noticeable jump in noise reduction / performance, I would spend a few extra dollars. My questions are: Would a 6" fan connected to a speed controller be quieter than a 4"? Does anyone have any opinions on the cheap (about $35 US) carbon scrubbers on amazon? I am currently running a DIY but I figure $35 is worth the peace of mind. Can anyone give any input on the fans (or fans similar) listed below? Do the significantly cheaper inline duct "booster fans" have enough static pressure to substitute a centrifugal type fan? What I'm looking at: I'm looking at fans on Amazon (I've got a $50 gift card just waiting to be spent) such as the ones below. I was trying to find a fan and carbon filter for sub $100 but I do not think that will happen. 4" by Lighthouse Hydro - $95.99 Amazon.com: 4" Inline Fan 190 CFM Hydroponics Inline Duct Fan Exhaust Blower Vent: Patio, Lawn & Garden 4" by Earth Worth - $94.95 Amazon.com: Earth Worth 4 Inch High Volume Fan for Grow Tents And Hydroponics 200 Cubic Feet Per Minute: Discount Tommy 6" by ValuLine - $82.99 Amazon.com: 6 Inch ValuLine Centrifugal Inline Fan: VM Innovations 6" by Active Air - $95.99 Amazon.com: Hydrofarm Active Air 6 inch In-Line Fan 400 CFM: Home & Kitchen I also saw some inline blower fans (I think they are for the engine room of a boat, though I am not sure) they are pretty cheap and claim to move some pretty substantial air such as this one here: 4" by HRP Sports - $29.99 + $6.99 shipping Amazon.com: 4" Inline Blower - 235 CFM - 12 Volt - 1.3 lbs - 5 1/4" (h) x 4 3/16" (w) x 6" (l): Hoerr Racing Products
dont get the off brand fans they are noisy as hell. I once had a 8'' "crystal king" centrifgugal fan i thought was a good deal for $120 a few years ago... well i would have spent the extra 40 if i had known it sounds like a phreaking airplane coming in for landing, I use a 6'' valuline it's very quiet but fir your space a 4'' valuline should cut it. Shouldn't cost more than $80 shipped.
no on the duct booster, and IMO no on the off brand carbon scrubber... however NO also on small sized carbon scrubbers (any brand(
