hello, im new to growing MJ, and i want to start a small grow in a old cabinet of mine. The dimensions are 23.5"x15"x15".... the cabinet is wooden with rollers on the bottom. i plan on trying to grow 2 plants maybe 3, but the biggest problem i seem to run into is lighting.... its so dam confusing lol (little to high).... if anyone could help me out would be great.
Your going to need more height to grow regular pot. If your growing dwarfs, you MIGHT be able to squeeze 2 in there.

Looks far too small but anythings possible. I would try Craigslist for FREE furniture like TV cabinets and dressers. Or use an old beat up dresser from around the house or somewhere.
well i was thinking of that myself. i have a older dresser that one of the shelfs are broke, would meet the height and width requirements ( normal 4 drawer dresser) but was worried about the look of it being a grow box.... as in the ways it looks all boxed up. is there a way to change the existing peice to make it a grow box, but change back at a later date?... Looks like nothing out of the ordinary from the front. I would suggest a 150w HPS and a soler & paulu (sp) inline fan. (Very quiet reliable fans!!)
I dont know what you mean- the setup or the electric bill? I can fit 3 autoflower plants (2-3 gallon pot) or maybe 6-8 LITTLE party cup plants. No idea on the cost of material and whatnot, but I had the dresser and tools and little stuff like that around the house. The 250w HPS light I got came with a fan but it was too weak, I had to buy another stronger one. So the fan and light probably $160 or so, and materials/Rubbermaid tote/paint/PVC pipe- probably another $75-100 if that. Im bad with wood & building so I probably spent far more than needed, but did a decent job. About to cut my 3rd plant soon, hopefully get an ounce+ but the last 2 were little midgets, this ones thankfully bigger (autos are meant to be small and flower fast so it worked, but after winter I'm moving onto normal photo-strains). Sorry for rambling. Read more, study like its homework, and you'll understand stuff if you really want to grow.
thanks for all the help, im going to run to the hydroponics store and buy a 400W ballas and HPS and MH bulbs... does 200 sound right for both bulbs and the ballas...
Woaaah, 400 watter in where?! Thats far too much light and heat for a dresser dude. Get a tent if you're getting a 400 watter. I dont know prices, stepped into a hydro store once and I dont wanna go back!
well, the ballas is a adjustable from 150-400. so i plan on dialing it down to around 250 or so. the 400 setting i plan on using in the future with a larger grow.
hey man nice cab, you built the cab i've been planning on building whats your temps like with the 150? and how much vert growth room do you have?
I dont gotta 150 watter, I gotta 250 watter and she sucks because the ballast is builtin the hood and the temps are sometimes very hard to control. Wish I had gotten a 150w HPS and a Soler&Paiulu fan because the heat/fan noise suck with the dresser. Got like 3-3.5 ft height I think minus light/hood and pots.
i haven't built the entire dresser yet, so far just getting planning done. im going to start a grow box build today, should do a step by step. the ballast i got dosent connect to the reflector ( DIY im doing)...
