anyway i got a free 1000 watt HPS lamp. so i figured fuck it i'll try it lol anyway i wanna grow it in a closet. the dimensions on the closet. its 5 feet wide, a little under 8 feet tall, and a bout a foot and half deep. heres some pics Imageshack - gedc0306.jpg Imageshack - gedc0305.jpg Imageshack - gedc0304.jpg Imageshack - gedc0303.jpg Imageshack - gedc0302.jpg im gonna have to put a hole in the top of the closet to ventilate it up to the attic, but could anyone reccomend any specific fans or filters? also wondering if i would be able to grow the flame weed i see on high times. lol kinda far fetched since its my first time. but just looking for any tips help suggestions. especially in the nutrients & soil dept since idk which brand would be best.
Congrats on the grow! All living things need fresh air, including plants. In order to properly ventilate, you need an intake AND exhaust. Do you own the closet? I would be pissed if my renter cut holes in the floor and ceiling of my closet. I would recommend soil for the medium as it's cheap and more difficult to screw up. My best advice would be to look through the "Grow room setup/design" section. Find a successful grow in an area that is similar to yours. Good luck and keep the faith!
1000 watts for that closet? You're gonna need more light! j/k Well, heat is going to be a challenge. If you don't have one already, get an air cooled hood. I'd suggest a 6" vortex-style fan and ducting to just cool the hood. Have the intake and exhaust for the hood come/go throught the attic - just not the same place in the attic, ya know? You don't want to suck back down hot air that you've already exhausted. For ventilating the actual closet, get another 6" fan sucking from the ceiling of your closet and blowing into a carbon filter (can type). You can buy or build your own. Make a light-proof passive intake in the closet door of at least. 50 square inches (7x7) or an 8" or larger hole. Mount both fans in the attic if you can - that'll cut down on the noise. And get 2 fan speed controllers to dial in the temps and noise. Good luck on your grow. You should have some tight buds with that light!
what is an air cooled hood? is it a hood that has hook ups for ducts or w/e? here's some pics of mine.
Yeah, that's an air cooled hood. The manufacturer should have an air cooling "kit" for it which consists of two duct connectors to replace the louvers and a piece of tempered glass to slide in under the bulb. GL!
