So the seedlings from my last grow died. I ordered new ones. I'm doing this grow outside in coco. I'm pretty reluctant about doing any pregermination. I just want to plant them right in the medium, like nature intended. Can anyone tell me what to do after this? Or suggest something? I don't want these to die too.
With lightly damp soil or coco you can just bury the seed about an inch deep and wait a couple of days. If the coco has a tendency to dry up quick then you may want to cover it until the seedling breaks through the surface
Why are you so against pregermination? Nature didn't plan on planting anything into straight coco coir from the husks of coconuts, but your doing that. Paper towel works 100% for me. If your stuck on just throwing it in coco, keep it damp(not soaked) and don't cover the seed to much, it will make it harder to break the surface. Good luck!
I have had seedlings push through 12" of soil. There is plenty of strength there, but it's all about the air content. If the plantlet suffocates then it won't grow, if it's suffocating in just an inch or two depth then the soil is crap anyway and the plant is always going to struggle
