need new sample library

  1. well i got a new machine, and i went thru a bunch of my old samples from my old PC and i found out that i have been using the same set of like 200 samples in all my little projects. and that is probably why i havent been making too much of anything interesting lately.

i was hoping that someone knew of any websites that let you download little clips for free. like bass kicks, snares, percs and all that fun shit. even synth wavs.

i sometimes go to soundsnap.com and occasionally find something that i could use for a particular track im doing but i dont often keep it and use it all the time its usually just a perc. but im looking for synths mostly. like heavy house synths and electro stuff. some acid synths would be great.

just i cant find anything thats free.

    suggestions:

  2. i just google various old drum machines and download samples or full kits, roland, akai, linn-drum, etc.

layering different drum samples in a multitrack program like audacity or cooledit can help get a unique sound, or if you're doing this with a sampler you can probably get the same effect. what's the "new machine" you're talking about? a sampler? you could always get a little cheap midi keyboard and reason/ableton/fruityloops and do some synth lines of your own, it'd let you tweak the tone and get the sounds you're after. it could even do basslines if you get into it.

i hope this helped! pm me for more questions since i'm pretty sure i already forgot i'm posting in this thread.

  3. I recommend listening to classical music and old jazz/funk stuff. You can find and crop alot of crazy stuff from older music. Acoustic/instrumental stuff is good too

  4. just chop your own samples. listen to different songs cut out the drums/instruments. thats what i do

  5. torrents...just search drum kit or drum samples

and then also check out free-loops.com they have a lot of loops but also a lot of just single hits, kicks, .etc

  6. i should have specified, when i said machine i meant a new computer.

i would have said what brand and model i got if i got something like say an MPC or like PadKontrol or something. i already have all the necessary studio equipment.

but i mean like pre cut samples of drums and shit. i figure that there are some sites with archives of stuff predone. just considering with all the software like cubase and ableton and acid pro and fruityloops and the like that already have a fairly large library that comes with the program that there would be a site that has that stuff all compiled together for people with other programs to use too.

but thats too much to hope for i suppose.

but i know from going to raevs and shit that there are synth sounds and shit that i havent heard before that i would love to get my hands on and im always like oh shit where the fuck did they get that shit. i know they arent making it themselves considering they are using CDJs and shit and just mixing songs together.

i want to compose my own shit so that they can sample me.

  7. fruity loops has samplers where you can tweak samples and make them your own
