Need lighting help. (CFL)

  1. Hello, I'm new to growing and want to get started soon. I only want two plants, so I'm going to use CFLs to grow with. I originally bought these:

Walmart.com: GE Energy Smart CFL Light Bulb: 26 Watt, 6-Pk: Decor

But ended up returning them because the guy who's helping me out said they weren't "grow lights". He recommended these:

HTG Supply - 6 Pack - 35 Watt Compact Fluorescent Bulbs

But I need to know a couple of things. First of all, those are seemingly expensive. (The GEs were about $2.30 each, while those are $7 each.) If they work, I'll pay for them, but I wanted to be sure first. Are there any others I could buy that would work better for the money?

Next question. With two plants, I was worried that three 35-watt bulbs wouldn't be enough, so if I get the ones from HTGS, could I use the three 6400K plus one or two of the 2700K for veg, and just do the reverse for flowering?

    Thanks.

  2. Any of those lights will work you'll just need more of the 26W bulbs ... just add up the lumens and divide the square footage and make sure you have over 5000 lumens per square foot
