Hello fellow GC growers! I would like to learn all about the use of molasses - what it does, the science behind it, when and how to apply it, alternatives, etc. I'd especially like to hear from growers with actual experiences growing with and without it. Here's where I'm at on my grow, in case any of it makes a difference in regards to applying molasses: I have a mix of 8 plants that have been flowering for about 25 days now. 4 of them are under a 400 MH and the other 4 are under a pair of 90W UFOs. The LED plants use about 1/4th the water that the MH ones do. Should the LED plants be given a heavier dose to compensate? My soil is organic and fairly complete. I've added .5/12/.2 bat guano in 2 waterings since flowering and I've added BushMaster in 1 watering about a week into flowering. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help or comment!
http://forum.grasscity.com/advanced-growing-techniques/290744-using-molasses-nutrient.html That's a sticky in the advanced growing section... I haven't gotten into it yet myself, but plan to in the last few weeks of flowering to supplement the flush. Haven't had much luck using it during the beginning weeks, but I had a Ph issue too, soo... Anyway, this thread should help you out.
ok so stupid ppl give their plants sugar water bc they hear they it increases growth and thc content...but in reality the roots will not take in the sugar because the plant needs to make its own...to make its own it uses carbs which molasses is completely full of, the other ingredient in molassis that will help you is the HIGH amount of potassium which as u may know is one of the most important nutrients for flowering...some ppl say it can mess with ur flavor...so the alternative would be a hydroponic carbo loader/booster so get black strap molasses and i dont rly know the propper ratio...u can easily look this up for urself but because u were too lazy il just tell u what i do i take a gallon of warm water dip a butter knife in the molasses and then into the water til it has disolved and i feed every other week of flowering lol its kind of rediculous demanding this info tho lol google blackstrap horticultural molasses and READ edit on the bottom of the page is this Thread Thread Starter Forum Replies Last Post Molasses btc2112 Organic Growing 1 Today 09:49 AM Using Molasses as a nutrient Leapfrog Advanced Growing Techniques 279 Yesterday 02:07 AM good info on sugar and nute piff toker Organic Growing 3 07-23-2009 09:29 PM Molasses and our plants! Thanks Dragon. I'll read that info. At first glance, it looks like it will answer all my questions. BTW - I think my search skills need honing. I did search for "molasses", but got inundated with non-relative threads.
If you go to an "advanced search," you can narrow down specific sections of GC to conduct the search in...it's in the bottom-right corner of that page. You can also choose whether to search posts within threads or just the thread titles themselves (titles seem to help more when you want to be very specific) Good luck with the molasses, I hope it works out well for you.
loll sounds like you need another bowl buddy, for one this is where you post questions about growing, obviously the member has tried to find the answer and either hasnt found one or is not happy with what he has found ( still doesnt understand needs more info) so therefore the questions gets posted. not everyone is jorge cervantes, doubt you are either my friend or you would not be looking here for more grow info. amazes me how many guys answer like this, well let me look that up for you,,,,,,,,,, maybe someday ill be as cool as you .. ok time for me to have another bowl.........lol
Thanks guys. All of your responses are helpful and appreciated. I don't even mind a little slapping around if it gets me to what I'm after. Dragon - I read the sticky. That sure gives me the science of it I was looking for. Your tips for searching and Fuzz's explicit references to other threads will surely get me to the dosage and timing details I'm after. I'm comfortable now that I'll figure out what to do by my next watering. Dr. Dank - You feel like my new big brother!
