  1. okay guys I just picked up a 1000 wat hps light/ballast/reflector set up for my closet grow, I have 12 plants 8 of them are "afgani" says the guy i got them from and the rest are a strain of purple something, (cant remember the name) anyway my closet is about 6 feet long X 2 and a half feet wide, I have a big ass fan in there blowing at full power, and its still about 100 degreese in there, what else can I do to get the tempature down, or do you think this will be fine? I have no more money to put into the grow because ive spent about 600 bucks already..any ideas would be REALLLLLLY helpfull! thanks

  2. by the sounds of it seems like its a space issue. with that big of a light, in an area of 6x2 is just askign for heat problems. If possible try a different spot, or a smaller wattage HPS, maybe a more efficiant air exchange system ?

  3. those arent exact measurements, just estimates...I think space is fine being i have 12 nice size plants in there with more room to spare.. I also have a table in there to hold my ballast, then the fan is ontop of the ballast, also got a lil heater type thing that has an AC function, so I have that in there as well to try and keep the temp down, right now I just leave my doors open a bit and it airs out nicely with the fans blowing, But I would liek to get some type of exaust system sucking fresh air inside..

  4. Get the ballast OUT of the room for starters. Second, vent air OUT of the room. Don't just have a fan in there blowing air. That just circulates hot air in an already hot area.

  5. I guess I could take the ballast out of the room, it doesnt produce much heat tho, And I cant really air the thing out because it is a closet and I have doors on it, with 1 of the doors off its too fuckin bright in my room even with a blanket over it, what I would really like to do is cut a hole from my closet to outside and get a vent type thing going, but I dont know how to make that not obvious cuz I have people come over to do the lawn work and shit so tehy would see it, and smell it lol, only thing I could think of is, I have 2 closets next to eachother I could cut a hole from 1 closet to another so the hot air vents into the closet thats not being used for growing, dont know if that would be too much work to acutally do and if it would even be worth putting the energy into... I think I might just wait and keep a close eye on my plants and see how they do the next few days and if I see some signs of heat stress I will change something..

  6. Drill a hole into the other closet. Put the ballast into the other closet, and vent air into the other closet. 100 degrees is too hot. You want the room to be at 78 degrees.

  7. I dont think it needs to be exactly 78..n im not really sure if 100 is too hot, becasue I have been into a professional growers grow room the temp was exactly 110.... and she was getting about 6 ounces off every plant.....
