The previous owner knew nothing about it other than his old man grew pot with it. It says 1000w max on it but my space wouldn’t allow for such a massive light. I have two questions, 1. What drivers can I use with this? Preferably I would like to use this as a 250w or 400w. 2. Can I use a smaller bulb with this ballast? It’s old and I couldn’t find much info for it online. Any help would be awesome. Thanks guys

  2. Gonna be hot without cool tube. Questionable condition. Up to you, but it’s a $50 part brand new and the bulb looks shot

  3. The wattage says 1000w max. I’m used to self enclosed systems so I’m ignorant on these. Is the wattage of the bulb I use driver dependent? Like I get a 400w driver and I can use a 400w bulb? Or a 250w driver and a 250w bulb?

  4. You would get a whole kit for about the same price as just a ballast. That thing is junk IMO

  5. Don't bother with it. You don't have a ballast. That hood will only be good for a large open area. By the time you buy a new ballast you might as well buy a new hood too that thing is so old.
1000 watt max would be the rating of the light socket. The bulb you decide to use with it will depend on what ballast you bought. Obviously with a socket that can do up to 1000 you have a choice of buying a 400,600 or 1000 watt capable ballast.

  7. Thanks guys. I’ll put it in my closet as a back up just in case. I’ll find a cheap ballast on eBay in my leisure.

  8. hang it in the man cave as vintage grow equipment.!!

look into HLG QB LED's, for the price of a good ballast and bulb u can have great QB lights that out do HID lights.!
