I need some help building a carbon filter. I built this Zen micro filter...The BEST DIY EZ walmart carbon filter for MICRO grows Zen style. - Marijuana Growing and I hooked it up to a 95cfm pc fan. But the problem is that the fan is not strong enough to push air through it. This is the strongest pc fan I could find. The air basically comes back down the other way. Anyone know how can make this work?
PC fans suck for static pressure which is what you need to move air through a carbon filter or a long duct run ( or both ;-). Check out the fan in my sig for an ultra-quiet fan with very good static pressure.
I think a fan like that would be overkill in my space since it is only 10'' x 30'' x 36''. Would adding another one of those pc fans do the trick?
I doubt it, small axial fans just do not create hardly any static pressure. The 4" S&P with a speed controller will cost less then a 1/4 of kind, will be whisper quiet, and will be ready for your bigger box you will inevitably build once you harvest your first plant... GL!
Get some delta case fans. They're the most powerful computer case fans that I know of. The 120mm sized ones are 190CFM. Their website is here: Welcome to Delta Electronics, Inc. - Components But I'm not sure where the best place is for you to buy them from. Hope this helps you mate.
