Need help understanding the dosage of existing Cannaoil

    I am somewhat new to growing and making edibles. I preferred to take the high-tech route when making my edibles - I use the Ardent FX to decarb the flower and to make the Cannaoil. I then take the oil that was produced and run it through Tcheck to get the THC measurement.

    I made some cannaoil a while back that I'd like to put into 00 capsules and I want to make sure I have this right. Most recipes start at the very beginning (before the decarb has happened) and I am well past that.

    For example, the results will look something like this: "20 mg/ml".

    If I am making 00 capsules, it looks like they hold just under 1 ml. So lets say I was happy to have 20 mg in a serving - am I right to infer that I would get that dosage (or just a tad less) in a single capsule? I think I am getting tripped up in the conversions.

    Direct oil, No Strain.
    Decarb 240 F for 40 minutes

    5 grams Cannabis (anything)
    1 tablespoon Coconut oil
    1/2 teaspoon Lecithin
    Heat 220 F for 20 minutes
    Done
    Makes paste.

    Trim 5% 50mg per gram 5 drops = 1mg of THC
    Powdered Buds 15% .. 150mg per gram... 1 drop = 1mg
    Hash 50%..500mg per gram.. 1 drop = 3mg of THC
    Wax / Rosin..90%..900mg per gram... 1 drop = 6mg

    The base recipe makes Paste / Sludge
    I use a single zero Capsule and they hold 25 drops of Oil / Goo
    75mg each

    15 grams of hash
    3 tablespoons of oil
    2 teaspoons Lecithin.
    90 capsules per dish

    Compare against your Cannabis to oil ratio.

    Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of that out. I fear that you may have missed the spirit of my question. I am not looking for a start-to-finish recipe. I made a batch of cannaoil already and I know its potency. If I wanted a single dose, how much is it? What I don't seem to understand is the "ml / mg" part of the equation.

    If you post what you did I can likely get in the ballpark.
    How many milligrams of THC per milliliter.
    5 gram of Hash is 2,500mg of THC
    I used 1 tablespoon of Oil = 15ml....166.66666666666 milligrams of THC per milliliter of Oil
    The goo fills 30 capsules 0.68 ml size
    2500 divided by the 30 capsules it filled = 83mg per cap. I usually de-rate them to a 75mg

    Thanks again! The result I get from the tcheck device says "20 mg / ml". They don't have an online support forum so I contacted them to find out if that 20 mg is the potency for one ml. The 00 pills take around one ml per capsule.

    Testing will tell you soon enough.20mg should be a good strong ride without being overwhelming for most people.
    10mg is to little and 50mg is to much

    Sooner or later you just step up and try one to see where you land.
    All of us that dabble in edible oil we make ourselves get more then we bargained for sooner or later testing this stuff. You just hold on and ride it out if it's a walk on the moon ride.

    I use the same identical recipe every time and the Hash capsules are always exactly the same punch. I also make a Tincture reduced RSO version that is a lot more guess work as to how it comes out. Strength can vary from half to twice the Hash version. That is the stuff that can knock me silly when it comes out extra strong.

    right, but how much of the oil do I put in the pill? Seeing as I know the potency it seems odd that I would still be advised to go the trial and error route.

    Just to be clear, I am extremely thankful for the recipes. I've made pills/edibles before and there are lots of great recipes. In this thread I am trying to understand what to do when I have cannaoil made (several weeks ago) and need to work backwards to get to dosages.

    Only testing will find how much of that strength oil is your personal sweet spot. All the numbers don't mean shit if your hyper sensitive or hard as a stone to stone.
    Assume the numbers are close enough and start at 1/4 capsule. Make several 5mg capsules.
    Take 1
    Wait 2 hours
    Take 2 more
    Wait 2 more hours
    Take 4 more.
    Keep doubling and waiting between until you hit the Zone.
    You may find a 1/2 capsule is good. No point in filling them all until you know your dose range. Only experience will tell you that.

    I make up a mess of single drop capsules (3mg each) for new users to find their dose with over about a week's time. Then I make them to order. 5 / 6 / 7 drops is the most requested range.

    Edibles are like a big scary rollercoaster your not quite sure you want to ride.
    Just like that thing once you get on your stuck to take the whole damn ride no matter how white knuckle it gets. No getting off if it gets ugly. This is why we advise gradual slow work up to it testing of any new or unknown strength Cannabis creation. You can always take more. You can't undo what is done.

    You could be blasted on the 2mg my wife is or need the 225mg I took this morning and I'm still not as hammered as she would be. I'd be pushing 500mg to get that silly stupid wrecked.

    Takes me a while to visualize how the numbers work out when I'm this stoned. If the Caps were the same size.(mine smaller so stronger oil). at 20mg per ml your a 1/4 my strength. That would be
    5 grams of Hash (2500mg) in 4 tablespoon of Oil (60ml) = 40mg per ml
    Buds even worse your at times 4 again.
    10 grams of Buds (1500mg of THC in a 1/4 Cup (4 tablespoons) (60ml) of Oil unstrained gets you closest at 25mg per ml of oil.
    Use 2 teaspoon of Lecithin.
    Heat 220 F for 20 minutes to bind it all.

    It is always Amount of total THC divided by servings or dose desired in this case 1ml servings.
    1 gram of buds = 150mg of THC
    150 mg divided by 10ml of oil = 15mg per 1ml
    <--bangs head on desk. I do this all the time and it is usually crystal clear.
    I think the wife is fixing my food in aluminum cookware again.

    20 mg/ml does mean 20 mg per one ml. So if you fill your cap with 0.9 ml you will have nearly 20 mg per capsule.

    It never hurts to question and double and triple check your numbers when working with high strength oils as just a few drops to much can mean the difference between Fun and Terror. I see people use what I know is 10 times as much cannabis as needed then they wonder why the brownies had everybody hallucinating.
