I recommend getting a good ph/ppm tester, use r.o. water, a chiller and gh lucas formula for nutes (cheap & easy) to get started.
actually growing well hydro is simpler than soil, you just don't know how to do it yet. once you know both you will find hydro much simpler what's a lowryder box? I fear its some sort of kit? if so your almost guaranteed for it to include a bunch of stuff you don't need, not include a bunch of stuff you do need and it all costs about 6 times the price compared to if you had bought it all separately what have you bought already? just so we have a starting point for you?
Hydro is quite simple, once you cut through all the misconceptions. Read about Lucas Formula and Hempy buckets. You can grow hydro so simply, it's ridiculous!
