Need help quick (setting up a blower)

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by HighOnTheHill, Jun 9, 2009.

  1. I posted this in grow room design/setup, but this place always has more viewers. I'm about to run to the store to grab it and it's not even in this town so I'd like to get everythnig at once.

Okay. I just checked out Lowes.com and they have a 450 CFM blower for 50 bucks. I'm stressing over heat, so I'm gonna go get one.

How the hell do I rig this thing up? I'm growing in a small cab, like 2'x3'x5' and I'm gonna cool a HID light for flowering with this thing.

It's a blower. So it sounds like to me I need to rig the "intake" on the fan up to my exhaust?

Just not sure how to go about it because where the air comes out is a rectangle. I don't even know. I googled like 20 times and used the search feature but I can't find anything on rigging them.

Decided to make a post 'cuz I'm in a hurry. Anyone?

  2. Ah well, this is my -bump- post.

I picked up the fan. I spent an hour inside Lowe's and Menards trying to figure out how you guys mount these things to exhaust a cab =/ Or rather, rig the ducting.

Anyone? Link. Point me in the right direction? I've googled for about a half hour now before I tried this again. People use them all the time... yet the search feature brings up nothing for me and I've tried as many different variations as possible.

  3. Did you check out the AC/heating duct fittings @ lowes? They have various sizes and transitions- rectangle to circle, rec to rec, and so on. If you cant find anything suitable find a flexible duct close in size and get 3 rolls of duct tape:smoke:

  4. Sounds to me like you need a flange. Im not exactly sure what a Blower is , but why not get a Can fan. They work really well for me. I have 2 270 CFM Can fans. 1 for my scrubber and one as my intake. Installation is easy as hell. If yah cant get one , maybe post a pic of what you bought and Im sure someone will come up with a good idea for yah!!!!!!

Well it's just the price per CFM thing. A squirrel cage blower is what I'm talking about uhm....

    45 bucks. 268 CFM. Can't beat that ;)

I'm taking it apart right now, attemtping to do something similar to...

    that.

Edit: Only difference is I'm going to mount mine to the outside of the cab. Drill some holes into the middle of the blower thing (there are 2 chambers and 2 different intakes) and block off the motor side intake and rig THAT intake up to my exhaust hole. Should do the trick.

  6. So both sides are open intakes? better pics?

if so I would think by blocking one intake your gunna lose a ton of cfm. what you could do if thats the case is duct both sides to a "T" and run a single to the exhaust hole on your box connectred to your tube.

  7. My thoughts exactly!!!!!! +rep

I go window mount (plywood) ->Flex tube-->Can Fan 270--> Y connect--> One side of Y open to bloom room--> Flex Tube to my Grow room.

  8. I'll post pics tomorrow, but its like this:

There's a wheel in the middle that spins and creates the air flow, there are two intakes, one on each side. The wheel actually has TWO chambers to it, in the middle is a solid piece of plastic. I'm going to drill as many 1" holes around that thing as I can, and tape the motor side intake up.

On the link I posted, it's on there SOMEWHERE, I think if you just scroll up a bit on that page there's someone, two people actually who have done it and say it made no difference in their temps. It's just a matter of opening up the other half of the wheel.

That link I posted is actually wrong now that I look at it. The 1ST page is what I'm going to be doing. I'm going to mount that single intake to my exhaust and set my fan on top my cab.
