My plant is about 7 days old and it has been very healthy so far. Today I rearranged the lights to give it more lighting (this was about 5 hours ago). I just checked my plant and it looks like the base of the main stem is so weak that the plant has just keeled over and it looks bad. What do you suggest? Should I prop it upright with something? What can be done?
I would put something next to it and tie it up. also you may want to move your light closer, it may have just stretched to much and needs to be slowed down. Good Luck
i've had that happen a couple times... not for Cannabis but for other plants as well. first thing i'd like to know is how often have you watered it? do you let the soil dry out a bit before re-watering? also, if you look at the base where it's fallen over, does it look like it's narrowing a lot? like it's pinched at the base? do you notice any discoloration? also, do you have a good air-flow around the plant? reason i ask is that sounds like "damping off" of the plant. usually caused by too much water and not enough air-flow which leads to a sort of fungus or something to establish itself. i've had many tomatoes and other herbs (not cannabis per-se) fall prey to this. i'd certainly reinforce the stem and hope that it can recover with a chance for the soil to dry out just a bit before watering again and a good air flow (usually a fan) can help but there is a chance that if it is damping off, it may be done-for. so, try that out, see what happens.
how do stems get stronger in nature??? maybe wind so try a fan remember when growing anything inside replicate nature and u will be fine most cases
Thanks, this is the reason. I can see it's being choked where it meets the soil. I'll need to get some perlite quick and try to bring my baby back. Anything else I can do?
not much you can do to save it. if it is dampened off, once it's fallen over most times it's past the point where you can do much to save it.
I would Plant another few seeds and gettem started. just in case after you tried everything listed above and plant still dies.
Put some soil around the base of the stem, maybe like a 1/4", and that will keep it upright. Just wait to water it for a while to keep it from getting stem rot.
It's not looking good. It's been a day and it hasn't changed much, it looks like a goner. I tried everything you guys said, but what can you do, I messed up from the beginning (first few days) by having the light too far away. I've learned sooo much from this first grow and I'm glad I did it. Thanks guys, if she comes back I'll let you know, but it doesn't look good.
