  3. Dont you have to do the research yourself so you can get EXACTLY what you need at the cheapest price depending on where you live, shipping, the way your purchasing it, ect?

  4. one word for you

    ebay

  5. Yeah I agree with bobmarley, check ebayyyy. Just be sure to look at the seller reputations and feedback(can tell about the product quality). There are several big hydroponics/lighting stores on ebaystores, so check it out!

  6. This is exactly what im looking for does anyone know of the same setup for a better price ...?:D

  7. i just ordered 2 of those tubes! i talked to a guy that already got his. he said they're very good quality. that's also a very good deal for the lumatek ballast/hood/bulb combo. i have a 400 and it works great!

  8. now thats the kind of feed back im looking for ...anyone else seen any other good deals ...???

  9. Lets compare the best of Ebay and this Maryland Hydroponics Yahoo store. I had to add a MH bulb to the cart at Maryland Hydroponics because it only came with a HPS Hortilux 400 bulb and the Ebay came with both in the package.

The Ebay package came with a ton of information on its components. It also came with a better set of bulbs.

The Yahoo store (Maryland Hydroponics) had a messed up web page. Lots of missing/broken links. That is the worst I can say about that site. It all gets better after you get past the bad web page. The cart works and they will ship your stuff (I know this because I now own 2 of them $49 Kool-Tubes).

With the $101.86 you save buying at Yahoo, you can go buy better bulbs and now you have a back-up set. Another problem (besides price) with Ebay is the ballast's un-shielded output cord. If you buy that package you and your neighbor might not like what it does to your TV.

I still have to give the best value to Yahoo hands down. Yet I still look for a better deal always! Chime in if you know one.

    Peace,R.

  10. nice work there rumple4. there was a lumatek system (400) there that was less that was on the same page. just do kool tube search. he prob. shouldn't get a kool tube. unless he want's to spend a little more on an in-line fan.

  11. Huh? On Ebay? This thread started with zoomatl asking for advice on finding the best deal on:
    .

Cap'n Froogle here did some price searches for just this type of system and came up with that Kool-tube deal.

If you have a better deal, please post the link.
    Peace, R

  12. Thanx for that info ...i guess like a lot of you guys im jumping back and forth with the kind of reflector i want ...my goal is to light a 4x4x7 foot tent that i will grow about 3-4 different strains of plants using sea of green hydroponics.so im afraid the cool tube even with an external reflector wont give off as much quality light...for a 4x4x7 foot area ...thats why i was looking at the inline cooled reflectors like the Sun System Super Sun 2 ...but dont want to pay that price tag ...the guys at the hydro store in my town swear by that design and tell me of grows they have seen and how great the results are. So thats what im hoping to get comparisons of ...they say that reflector with a digital ballast will get you un paralled results for the cost.:smoking:

  13. no you had it right. it was on the same page at maryland hydro unred system. sscool!

  14. Some pictures of the "Super Sun 2" by Sun Systems. Sells for about $180 bucks plus what ever to ship.

I see lots of knock-offs for a few bucks less then the brand name item. Even that one on Ebay is close to this type of system.

You did say you need it for a square room that is 4'x4'. I think at 16" from the tops you will not get light to the whole space. You might want to consider one that has the correct angles to give light to your whole grow at less then two feet from the top of your plants.

If you like Sun Systems, I feel you would get better light coverage with the "Cool Sun" from Sun Systems. It retails for the same price ($180.00)

Myself, I'm sold on the tubes for light coverage.
Some pictures of my tube in a 2.5' x 4' grow.
    [IMG] [IMG]

I have gone nutz with the pictures, but its hard to argue with the results.

See if the guys at the hydro store have pictures of results:laughing:

  15. very nice rumple4. are you in a cabinet with your tubes? i like the 6" vented hoods. i really have to watch myself or i'll spend all my dough. who is the co. that makes that sealed hood? is that the one you posted with the wing nut bolts? again. nice nugs...

  16. GrowBot, I put a link on the picture of the hood you liked. I also added a link to my closet grow and other information on my signature. Tons of pictures.

  17. do you need a inlinefan if you get cool tube?

  18. im assuming that is why they have the cool tube concept. so you pull the heat out of the tube instead of having to pull it out of the room. you arent gonna get that heat out by leaving the end open, now are you? gotta have some kind of suction
