Need help heat problem

  1. Does a 600 watt hps run cooler then a 1000 watt. The temps inside my cab are running 95-100. The store that sold me everything said that it would raise the temps that high. ( i knew i should have bought the 600) I trying to figure out if i switch will it make a differance. My setup is a can filter 33 and 6" ho fan pulling air from the cab through a coolsun reflector and then out of the cab. Theres also a 4" vent in to provide fresh air. the cab is sealed so when everything is on the 4" is sucking air in like mad and the 6" is blowing out 103 degree air. The cab is 40"x40"x7'. There a small fan inside the cab but doesnt seem to help.

    Thank you

  2. Shouldn't the passive intake hole be larger than your exhaust? Since the diameter of your exhaust is 6", perhaps you should make the diameter of the intake 6 1/2". Also, what type of fan are you using, and how many CFM's? It's not one of those inline duct booster fans is it?

  3. No its a can-fan 6"ho the cfm is 440. A heating and cooling buddy of min told me 4" would be more than enough. But then again hes been wrong before. Do you know how much cooler a 600 is. I would rather buy a ballest and bulb then have to reduct and rebuild the back of the cab. (the way its mounted would be a weekend project)

  4. You want the intake hole to be about 2 times the diameter of the exhaust hole. Instead of having a huge 12" hole make 2x6inch holes at the bottom of your cab. I'd also reccomend having a fan blowing into at least one of the intakes. The 600w light would be a bit cooler than the 1000w, but not by much. One of my cabs is 44x24x42 and I only have a 400w light in there. I keep the door opened a crack right now and the temp still runs around 92 degrees at the top of my plants, which is still too high. I have 2 dayton fans on the way to help with my heat issues. Maybe you could setup a tube running from an open window, to pull cool air from outside or something. Just a few suggestions.......hope this helps.
