****need help first time growers***!!

  1. We are first time growers, growing in our closet. We are using greenhouse seeds, autoflowering klashnikova and big bang. Both germinated fine and planted in their early stage pots. After 10 days both the plants have grown their first set of leaves (2 leaves) but now the big bang started to show yellow discolouration at the edges of the leaf and its now curling downwards. We have readjusted the height of the light thinking it might be due to heat stress but that had no affect after two days. We have only been using distilled water and havent added any nutrients in yet. we have two 65w cool daylight cfls on for each plant. the soil we have a mix of regular potting soil (1/3), compost (1/3) and coconut coir (1/3). there is no walmart or home depot in the area. and everything we have gotten is from local nurseries.

  2. That soil mix looks like crap, that is likely your issue. Most potting soils have time release nutrients and are not suitable for growing marijuana...seedlings need no nutrients for the first three weeks or so, the nutrients in that potting soil are burning it. That soil also looks to have poor drainage which will only compound your problems.

  3. Alright, I can get different soil but would it affect my plant in any way when I am transferring it from one type of soil to the other ?
    thanks..

  4. The stress of the transplant is probably worth having it in a better soil mix. That being said Im using stock miracle-gro and havent run into any nute deficiencies in a month of veg.

I also dont know when the earliest time you could transplant, with such a tiny root system the utmost care should be taken.

  5. I took your advice i found the best soil i could find. I planted it carefully the roots had gotten quite big. I watered them and left it for 2 days now without watering them because i have been reading that its possibly due to overwatering. But they still seem to be dying and now the second plant which was growing quite well has also started to wilt and curl. Any idea to whats going on??

  6. Not sure, but that soil doesnt look great either....in fact, it just looks like sand. Does the soil contain nutrients? If so, it too could be burning your plants.

You should really do some reading on proper soils for cannabis....it is one of the most important aspects of a grow, you cant just toss seeds in cheap storebought soil mixes not meant for cannabis and expect them to do well. There are a ton of threads on this site that discuss proper soils that can be found in hydro stores or garden centres. If those are unavailable in your area, there are also lots of easy soil recipes on here to make your own soils with components easily found anywhere.

Sad to say, but you are likely better off to start fresh after doing some research and getting a suitable soil for your plants.

  7. Just transplant they will make it water and dog you fingers down around it and pull as much as you can out and the repot the thing and see if it works

I couldnt start a new thread but the earlier plants died and we started a new grow with better soil and seeds. We are 2 1/2 weeks in and flowers have started to droop a little and started turning yellow at the tips. We are using two cfos 65w and 45w cool daylight. lights are on 24/0. We are also using canna nutrient but have only recently started feed with them. we have only watered once using a mix of canna tera vega and rhizotonic. we have been spraying the leaves with the rhizotonic 4 times a day. we have three mixed seeds and one GH big bang auto flowering. Anyone know whats going on?

  9. That soil doesnt look much better, what is it? I see zero perlite or vermiculite, that soil looks very poorly drained.
